Is that a Simple Life??

OK, everyone says "Life Is Simple"! Life is actually simple but people makes life complicated. Is life really that simple? I personally don't think that it is that simple. My life is definitely not simple. It is definitely not that complicated either. But how do you define simple?

I'm not here to talk about my crappy life. I feel certain things in your life, you have to keep it private. Share things about you, but to a certain extend. I don't want just about each and every person i know or i don't know know each and every bit of me. That would be scary.

I go online quite frequent. Chat with all sort of people, share experiences, debate with certain chatters about any topic that comes in mind. But there is this one person that i chat with really makes me angry and disappointed with people out there. This is how the conversation goes:

To go somewhere, it is not that simple. If he is talking about holiday,
1st, we need money, to make money, we need to work -not that simple.
2nd, If we are working- we need to apply for leave leh! that doesn't mean your Boss will approve your leave! - not so simple to me!
3rd, If you are single, then can just go la, what if you have a family-have to think about your wife/husband and kids le? - not so simple le
4th, Think about Hotel leh, unless you want to sleep at the roadside or under the bridge..

What i am trying to say is..everything you do you have to plan. You can't just leave when you feel like leaving. Same goes for a relationship!

I don't know how this statement applies to life being simple

The Spears - Are they good news or bad news?

Recently, i have read a few articles about Britney spear's baby sister Jamie Lynn Spears is PREGNANT! I mean, she is only 16 years old. Her parents are OK with it! What kind of message is she sending to the kids that idolize her? Kids watch her show 'Zoey 101' aired on Nickelodeon. I thought she would be different than her sister!

At least Britney was 24 and married before she got pregnant. Well, that doesn't mean she made the right choice either. Married a guy who already has a girlfriend that has bear him 2 children and carrying in her belly with another one. He does not even plan to marry her long time girlfriend and also mother of his 2 kids-Shar Jackson.

I mean, I don't understand why Britney would get involve with a guy that is so irresponsible. No one approved when they got together, as Britney being a rebel, she went against everyone. It's like what we would do when we were teenagers, the more our parents refrain us from doing anything the more we want to do it to show that we are more superior than them. That's Britney! Although she was in her twenties, (as you know Hollywood celebrities will never lead a normal life) her mentality is still of a teenage girl.

When she was going with Justin, she was young and famous and in love. Only after her breakup with Justin made her go cuckoo a little. OK, not a little but a lot. After that she has been focusing on her career and going on for tours, made her feel more lonely. Then she met Kevin Federline at a bar and they just hit it off..she is so over protective over Kevin saying that he's the one, he is nice and understanding and whatever you would say when you think that you are so in love.

Which guy won't fall in love with Britney? She is super rich man! He have already more than one motive to be with her.

i) He ask for anything in the world and she will get it for him
ii) He gets to travel the world with her expenses (on her tour around the world)
iii) Get her pregnant and he will always be the father of her kids
iv) A lifetime of alimony from her as she is earning more then he is (when divorce) v) Instant Fame!! who doesn't want that?

Why i think Britney made the wrong choice by choosing Kevin to be her husband?

i) He doesn't even earn enough to buy her a meal.
ii) He likes to party a lot (that doesn't sound like a good husband material)
iii) She has to take car of him instead of the other way round
iv) Irresponsible as a boyfriend and as a father (referring to Shar Jackson)
v) He making used of her popularity to get record deals and movie roles
vi) Leave his girlfriend who is still pregnant with his 3rd child for Britney (come on Brit, with his actions i'm sure a blind person can see what kind of person he is!)
vii) Britney have to buy her own proposal ring to ask him to propose to her?

I guess it is enough reason to think that Kevin is not good news to Britney, she have to merely spend her fortune to maintain his sudden extravagant lifestyle. No wonder Britney goes nuts after her divorce with Kevin!!!

I'm surprise that Jamie-Lynn is following the footsteps of her sister that will lead to disaster. I'm sure she knows best what really happen to her sister. Yon know- learn from her mistake, not to follow her footsteps, but i guess i was wrong. I'm also surprise that the media are quite lenient on her. Not as bad as it hit Britney. The media seem quite supportive of her preggers public announcement.

Recent news, i've heard Jamie-Lynn had already broken off with her boyfriend CaseyAldridge. Sigh!! It is as good as it gets. then back again and broke up again....same old thing la you hear from Hollywood. Imagine us girls being pregnant and going all through it alone. It must be devastating.

We can't compare our lives with them because they live under the microscope all their life with paparazzi on the look out of everything they do and further exaggerate the issue when they make a mistake. If we make a mistake, we just apologize to our parents and ask for forgiveness and straight on with our lives. For them, it's a stress all the time, people misquote you, making a big issue for everything you do or say, force them to make a public apology if they want to continue to be a role model or celebrity or surviving in the entertainment world. We always wish that we could be rich and famous and be known. But i don't think this is the life i want to lead.


I love my normal fame-less simple life :)

Hard Rock Rocks!

I should have made this entry like months ago, but it is still not too late to do so! So, Here it is! Me and Samantha had always talked about going somewhere to have a good time, where we can eat and talk and drink and listen to good music. She always bails out because of work and time constraints. When i am free she is not and when she is free i am not! You get what i mean right?

So, we have made a date a month earlier and settled with a date so that no one will back out later. I invited my cousin Nicole and Samantha invited Yoke Ling her high school pal. Samantha was working that saturday, we went over to fetch her and head straight to Hard Rock.

We didn't make any reservation, so we went there early so that we don't need to pay any entry charges (a little info that Canna had shared). We still need to have our MAKAN ma, still have to go early :P We parked at Concorde Hotel and walked over to Hard Rock. Sam and YokeLing went in first..can't hold in their wee wee any longer ..haha!! Following behind them, we were greeted by a friendly waitress, asked for a table for 4. She asked did we make any reservation, i answered no. She looked at us with a frown on her face as she said 'we are fully booked'!! I am like...are you sure? Because i saw lots of empty tables...she looked at me and say kidding.

What a slap in the face! I so wanted to shout at her yelling..'I drive all the way from Klang, which is about an hour drive. We left early so we don't get stuck in the jam so that we can get a seat without the hassle of booking and you have the nerve to play a prank on us? This is not funny!!!' Ok ok, i didn't freak out like that. i knew we could get a place anytime. :P

We were suppose to go there for their Ramadhan buffet, but my other colleagues that went there told me that it's not worth it and the food is not all that great. The ala-carte menu would be a better bargain. When Sam and YokeLing arrive at our table, Sam told me that the waitress told them that we have left because there are no table available for walk-in customers. What's with Hard Rock Cafe's waiters and waitresses with their pranks ah, haha!!

This what we have ordered off the menu, not a bad choice, since none of them want to make a decision on what to eat. I have to make an order for all of us, Sam and YokeLing dare not eat beefs and i love beef. So i want to look for something that we can have a little bit of beef and chicken. Guess what..they have one and it is called the 'Hickory Smoked Bar-B-Que Combo'. It's either the Duo Combo or the Trio Combo.

The Drinks are quite affordable too. It's not like Chillis that the drinks are bottomless, you only get to refill once at Hard Rock..anyway, how much can you drink right??!! No, you'll be surprise at how much 4 girls can drink. Initially we order Ice Lemon Tea to go with the food, then our waiter came buy and told us that they have a promotion going on for happy hour. We can order any House Wine or certain selected cocktails before 9.00pm to get another free refill! I'm like really!!??!??! So, we timed ourselves, by 8.45 sharp we order a drink so it will last us till the Live Band commence and we can get another refill!! Good plan right?

Ok, enough about Sam and her undergarments.

After lots of drinks and toilet visits later..time really flies and the Band has arrived. They start at 11.00pm sharp, by that time we have finish drinking both our Ice Lemon Teas and Long Islands. Damn, so we change location and order a jug of beer...Haha...It really makes me go to the toilet more. We really enjoy all the songs played by the Band, i don't really remember the Band's name, but i know there's a short and petite girl and a bald guy-they are from Indonesia by the way. Applaud for the band!!! I've been to a few places where they have live bands, but nothing could compare with this. I'll go there again for the Band!! Up for it Canna?

We were at the Concorde roof top parking, we went crazy a while at the roof top before everyone decide to jump in the car and head back. Everyone was sober, no one was drunk. All i can say..not enough alcohol la, i was expecting laughter right from KL till Klang like we were in Bali - of course minus the boost of alcohol la! Now i miss Bali too!! It was a great night out with the girls, we each spent RM90 for the alcohols and scrumptious food. Not bad at all. I would like to do this again, just have to wait and see la.

Birthday Bash! And it's not mine!

This is the annual routine event that i have to attend in replace of my Live and Loud Concert! Not only did i organize this event, i have to be the cameraman too, because our cameraman blew us off. I don't have a professional SLR camera like he does. So the picture i took turns out badly. Yay!!!! Don't blame me..i am already pissed off that i miss the once in a lifetime event. Don't they blame me that the picture turns out teribbly.

Me and some of the committee were there earlier to prepare the karaoke and everything else before the rest arrive. Shhhh!! Actually we wet there early so that we can sing a few rounds. You know lah..shy ma.. So i end up dominating the stage..singing quite a number of songs..warm up before the karaoke competition.

Meanwhile, the karaoke manager is getting the food prepared. So, before they get to eat..i took a few snaps before the wild animals swarm in and the food go *Poof* in a few seconds. I refrain anyone to go near the buffet line. Want to take pictures first ma.

Hey, i won third place for the duets. Hehe! not bad..i sang 'At the Beginning' by Donna Lewis and Richard Marx.

Here are our judges for the singing competition with their score cards. They are not pro la, it's 2 of my bosses and they are doing it because they don't want to sing and they are very sure we are going to force them into it anyway..haha!

The last event was the Birthday Bash for the 2nd half birthday boys and girls. Which went totally kelam-kabut! But i manage to snap a few pics in the midst of 'Kelam-kabut'. Prize giving for the karaoke winners and also something for the Comittee Members that make this all happen la, which is thanking me la. Boss bought us a soft toy from Ikea..nice!

Conclusion. I wish i was at the concert. End of story!

The Stork Has Arrived!

Congratulations to Tetty, my colleague and also my cubicle-mate. She has just delivered to a healthy baby girl on November 26th 2007 which she named Iman Aksho. She is now on maternity leave for 2 months and she will be back on the 25th of January. A little lonely at work now, no one beside me that i can talk to when i'm bored.

So, can't wait for her to come back to work!!

Congrats again Tet!! Wishing you and newborn Baby Iman a quick recovery and good health!!

Live and Loud Concert!!!

Most of my close friends knows my love for Jazz!!! I don't know since when i feel in love with Jazz music, that i got really obsess with it. I start searching anything Jazz. Jazz club, Jazz Pubs, Jazz Restaurant, Jazz Concert or Showcase, well..and Jazz music of course. I know Canna, you will go nuts if i say anything about Jazz again..so..this is the last time i'm going to haunt you with this..Jazz-ee, Jazz-er, Jazz-a Jazz, Jazzy, Jazzercise..HA!

Tourism Malaysia had organize an event called the Live and Loud in KL..yes..i know it's everywhere. The newspapers, the Radio, even television, I'm frustrated that i can't attend any, the media keep reminding me again and again that my life sucks! I can't attend The Best of 80's because it's over already. I can't attend the Best of R&B either because it is tonight!!! They have James Ingram..ohh i love his songs..oldies, evergreen... What about KC and JOJO, remember the song "All my Life"?? If you listen to Mix.fm, you will definitely know Kool and the Gang. Damn it..i miss all that!!! I'm sure if the will ever come down to Malaysia ever again!!!

Friday is my day, The JAZZ night at Zouk KL, hey..it's only RM 80.00 inclusive of 1 drink. I would die for this, but work comes first and it is too late for me to take leave on that day. By the time i finish work and drive my way there, it will be nearly over! But i am also afraid that it would be a disappointment like the Jazz Festival in Mont Kiara. The music they play is not really Jazz, there's no saxophone or piano trumpet...it is more like a pop rock kind of concert. I was hoping to see Sheila Majid, at least she sings good Jazz, but they are allowed to change schedule at the last minute. But what the heck, there's nothing to complain about because it is free. Sigh!! But why did the organizers held those event on a weekday??!!???!?!

I was also really looking forward for the TURN ON THE POP concert. I really intend to go..i mean truly, seriously had made plans for it. But bad luck is always on my side. I don't know why, my plans just all can't come through!!!! Even concert that i can attend for free i can't manage to attend, what more about concert that i have to pay for? 1st Dec 2007, of all days my department wish to have their 2nd Half Birthday Bash Celebration + Reward and Recognition Day! In the morning i have to go to office to run some testing. What a day!

I am in the committee for my department, which we name ourselves HACKERS! I told my colleague that i can help organize the event but i won't be able to attend it. Initially, they are ok with it. So i help set up a Buffet line, liaise with Bukit Jalil Golf Club, Book the Karaoke Lounge, Rent the Karaoke Equipments. Went for a food tasting, and lastly present to everybody that all will go smoothly..then come the BIG BANG!

The president break it to me..FYI, she is pregnant, i mean very pregnant..as you know pregnant lady is known for their mood swings. She look at me in the eye and said "Melissa, you are the one that organize this whole event, you are also the committee member and i expect to be there and there will be no excuse for you not too attend"..i told her timidly "But i have a concert to attend, a real big event" Ohh..you should see the eyes bulging and her nose flaring with smoke. "If you don't attend this event i will cancel everything and blame it all on you, and if you say you will attend but didn't turn up, don't blame me for sabotaging your car. I know where you park you know!"

Sigh!!! an official blackmail by my president! How can i refuse? How to turn it down? So, i gave in. I sacrifice my TURN ON THE POP concert for a routine event that happen every half a year. I tell you, i have to sacrifice hearing Whitney Houston pulling her high notes, sacrificing hearing Shaggy say in person that "It Wasn't Me" and the person that i wanted to see the most is Mr. Elliot Yamin. My Idol, My everything! I will never hear him say " I Will Wait for You" Damn it! Damn it!! I can't even go and see my self-proclaimed hubby sing!!

Bug-a-licious!!

Recently, my dad asked me to accompany him down to Thailand, just for a short holiday. My sister had to work on the weekend, so does my brother. Lucky me that i only work 5 days a week, so i agreed to follow him down to Danouk. So, it was only my dad, mom and me. That sounds fun right?!!?? **i guess**

We took a slow drive down to Penang, visited some friends and we are suppose to spend the night at Penang and proceed to the Thai borders early morning the next day. My cousin Nicole was at Penang most of the weekends because her brother is working there. So the whole family is quite a frequent visitor in Penang. It was kinda late, i think it's about 8-ish. It's about another 1 and a half hour drive down to the Thai borders from Penang. So my dad made a few calls to make sure the time that the Customs at the border close. They close about midnight, so we quickly make our way up to the Thai border.

We manage to find a hotel..i don't even remember it's name. Quite spacious, only RM 80 per night for a suite. But the only problem is that there's a night club right beside and guess what, they play all the techno and house music and literally the walls of our hotel rooms vibrating and booming with the music. After checking in, we went looking for some food, had our dinner but still we want to get some bites. We bought the famous Thai dessert which is the mango with sweetened glutinous rice and my dad loves cuttlefish, so he was looking for some. Me and my mom went up to the hotel room first as my dad was getting some cuttlefish.

After a few mins my dad came back with his cuttlefish and he has this look at his face. A weird smirk and he keeps smiling. Then he told us..'guess what i saw downstairs at the lobby?' Then i was in a suspense, something bad, i have this feeling lingering inside me. Then my dad finally said, 'I saw rats and cockroaches and bugs downstairs. This Hotel is dirty, then he throw a plastic bags full of silk worms...then my mom went beserk. She screamed and i just sat there laughing, so is my dad. My dad just bought the most bizzare Thai delicacy. 'FRY SILK WORMS'. We force my mom to try one of it, she reluctantly try one, one small bite at a time. Initially she didn't like it. The more she taste it, the more she liked it. After one long day, me and my dad were exhausted because we took turns driving, not long we knocked off. Unfortunately, my mom was wide awake until 2 am because she can't sleep due to the noise.

The next day we went out for breakfast, and suppose to get a cab down to Haatyai. But it was raining heavily so we canceled our intial plan and stayed at the hotel (We checked out and went to another hotel, bigger room with cheaper rates) 7-Eleven is just right beside the hotel, my dad told me that the burger at 7-eleven taste really good. I was like..'Areyou sure???' Then my dad say, maybe he was too hungry that everything he puts in his mouth tasted good. Ha, so i tried. Guess what...It tastes REALLY GOOD!!

Look at it, it's huge and it cost only 30 Bath!! Did i say it taste really good for burger that cost a mere RM3

It didn't stop raining since afternoon, at night i was getting kind of lazy. So my mom and dad went out for some dinner and i stayed alone in the room and do some reading. My parents came back with something for me. After an hour or so..they got hungry again. This time they dragged we down with them. I was sitting at a hawker stall, having a nescafe, which only cost RM1 by the way. Feels so good having a hot drink on a rainy day. I noticed my parents we both like..looking for something. Turning their heads each time a motorcycle passed by. I thought my dad was looking for some cuttlefish and my mom was looking out for him.

Right in front of my eyes, an old lady was pushing her cart slowly. Her cart was covered with some cone like paper made thingy to cover whatever she was selling due to the rain. My parents got so excited and they went over to the cart, guess what is she selling. BUGS!!! BUGS i tell you! My mom is getting all adventurous which she is normally not. They end up buying silk worms, bee's larvae, some long, skinny type worms and lastly crickets. Do not scroll down if you are afraid of bugs. It is not for the faint of heart.
