Live and Loud Concert!!!

Most of my close friends knows my love for Jazz!!! I don't know since when i feel in love with Jazz music, that i got really obsess with it. I start searching anything Jazz. Jazz club, Jazz Pubs, Jazz Restaurant, Jazz Concert or Showcase, well..and Jazz music of course. I know Canna, you will go nuts if i say anything about Jazz again..so..this is the last time i'm going to haunt you with this..Jazz-ee, Jazz-er, Jazz-a Jazz, Jazzy, Jazzercise..HA!

Tourism Malaysia had organize an event called the Live and Loud in KL..yes..i know it's everywhere. The newspapers, the Radio, even television, I'm frustrated that i can't attend any, the media keep reminding me again and again that my life sucks! I can't attend The Best of 80's because it's over already. I can't attend the Best of R&B either because it is tonight!!! They have James Ingram..ohh i love his songs..oldies, evergreen... What about KC and JOJO, remember the song "All my Life"?? If you listen to Mix.fm, you will definitely know Kool and the Gang. Damn it..i miss all that!!! I'm sure if the will ever come down to Malaysia ever again!!!

Friday is my day, The JAZZ night at Zouk KL, hey..it's only RM 80.00 inclusive of 1 drink. I would die for this, but work comes first and it is too late for me to take leave on that day. By the time i finish work and drive my way there, it will be nearly over! But i am also afraid that it would be a disappointment like the Jazz Festival in Mont Kiara. The music they play is not really Jazz, there's no saxophone or piano trumpet...it is more like a pop rock kind of concert. I was hoping to see Sheila Majid, at least she sings good Jazz, but they are allowed to change schedule at the last minute. But what the heck, there's nothing to complain about because it is free. Sigh!! But why did the organizers held those event on a weekday??!!???!?!

Visit http://www.lnlkl.com/ for more info

I was also really looking forward for the TURN ON THE POP concert. I really intend to go..i mean truly, seriously had made plans for it. But bad luck is always on my side. I don't know why, my plans just all can't come through!!!! Even concert that i can attend for free i can't manage to attend, what more about concert that i have to pay for? 1st Dec 2007, of all days my department wish to have their 2nd Half Birthday Bash Celebration + Reward and Recognition Day! In the morning i have to go to office to run some testing. What a day!

I am in the committee for my department, which we name ourselves HACKERS! I told my colleague that i can help organize the event but i won't be able to attend it. Initially, they are ok with it. So i help set up a Buffet line, liaise with Bukit Jalil Golf Club, Book the Karaoke Lounge, Rent the Karaoke Equipments. Went for a food tasting, and lastly present to everybody that all will go smoothly..then come the BIG BANG!

The president break it to me..FYI, she is pregnant, i mean very pregnant..as you know pregnant lady is known for their mood swings. She look at me in the eye and said "Melissa, you are the one that organize this whole event, you are also the committee member and i expect to be there and there will be no excuse for you not too attend"..i told her timidly "But i have a concert to attend, a real big event" Ohh..you should see the eyes bulging and her nose flaring with smoke. "If you don't attend this event i will cancel everything and blame it all on you, and if you say you will attend but didn't turn up, don't blame me for sabotaging your car. I know where you park you know!"

Sigh!!! an official blackmail by my president! How can i refuse? How to turn it down? So, i gave in. I sacrifice my TURN ON THE POP concert for a routine event that happen every half a year. I tell you, i have to sacrifice hearing Whitney Houston pulling her high notes, sacrificing hearing Shaggy say in person that "It Wasn't Me" and the person that i wanted to see the most is Mr. Elliot Yamin. My Idol, My everything! I will never hear him say " I Will Wait for You" Damn it! Damn it!! I can't even go and see my self-proclaimed hubby sing!!

OFFICIALLY, MY LIFE SUCKS!!

Bug-a-licious!!

Recently, my dad asked me to accompany him down to Thailand, just for a short holiday. My sister had to work on the weekend, so does my brother. Lucky me that i only work 5 days a week, so i agreed to follow him down to Danouk. So, it was only my dad, mom and me. That sounds fun right?!!?? **i guess**

We took a slow drive down to Penang, visited some friends and we are suppose to spend the night at Penang and proceed to the Thai borders early morning the next day. My cousin Nicole was at Penang most of the weekends because her brother is working there. So the whole family is quite a frequent visitor in Penang. It was kinda late, i think it's about 8-ish. It's about another 1 and a half hour drive down to the Thai borders from Penang. So my dad made a few calls to make sure the time that the Customs at the border close. They close about midnight, so we quickly make our way up to the Thai border.
.
We manage to find a hotel..i don't even remember it's name. Quite spacious, only RM 80 per night for a suite. But the only problem is that there's a night club right beside and guess what, they play all the techno and house music and literally the walls of our hotel rooms vibrating and booming with the music. After checking in, we went looking for some food, had our dinner but still we want to get some bites. We bought the famous Thai dessert which is the mango with sweetened glutinous rice and my dad loves cuttlefish, so he was looking for some. Me and my mom went up to the hotel room first as my dad was getting some cuttlefish.
.
After a few mins my dad came back with his cuttlefish and he has this look at his face. A weird smirk and he keeps smiling. Then he told us..'guess what i saw downstairs at the lobby?' Then i was in a suspense, something bad, i have this feeling lingering inside me. Then my dad finally said, 'I saw rats and cockroaches and bugs downstairs. This Hotel is dirty, then he throw a plastic bags full of silk worms...then my mom went beserk. She screamed and i just sat there laughing, so is my dad. My dad just bought the most bizzare Thai delicacy. 'FRY SILK WORMS'. We force my mom to try one of it, she reluctantly try one, one small bite at a time. Initially she didn't like it. The more she taste it, the more she liked it. After one long day, me and my dad were exhausted because we took turns driving, not long we knocked off. Unfortunately, my mom was wide awake until 2 am because she can't sleep due to the noise.

The next day we went out for breakfast, and suppose to get a cab down to Haatyai. But it was raining heavily so we canceled our intial plan and stayed at the hotel (We checked out and went to another hotel, bigger room with cheaper rates) 7-Eleven is just right beside the hotel, my dad told me that the burger at 7-eleven taste really good. I was like..'Areyou sure???' Then my dad say, maybe he was too hungry that everything he puts in his mouth tasted good. Ha, so i tried. Guess what...It tastes REALLY GOOD!!

Look at it, it's huge and it cost only 30 Bath!! Did i say it taste really good for burger that cost a mere RM3

It didn't stop raining since afternoon, at night i was getting kind of lazy. So my mom and dad went out for some dinner and i stayed alone in the room and do some reading. My parents came back with something for me. After an hour or so..they got hungry again. This time they dragged we down with them. I was sitting at a hawker stall, having a nescafe, which only cost RM1 by the way. Feels so good having a hot drink on a rainy day. I noticed my parents we both like..looking for something. Turning their heads each time a motorcycle passed by. I thought my dad was looking for some cuttlefish and my mom was looking out for him.
.
Right in front of my eyes, an old lady was pushing her cart slowly. Her cart was covered with some cone like paper made thingy to cover whatever she was selling due to the rain. My parents got so excited and they went over to the cart, guess what is she selling. BUGS!!! BUGS i tell you! My mom is getting all adventurous which she is normally not. They end up buying silk worms, bee's larvae, some long, skinny type worms and lastly crickets. Do not scroll down if you are afraid of bugs. It is not for the faint of heart. Some Gruesome pictures will be displayed. Don't say i didn't warn you, scroll down at your own risk!
.
Here we go!!

Shopping...anyone?

The long awaited opening of Jusco Bukit Tinggi Klang is Today!! How can i miss it right??? Just walking distance from my home..yes..walking distance..As i have expected, the people parked their cars until the Roundabout around my housing area. Inside the building..as all of us have expected..is jammed packed with people..Klangites...Practically ah...i think the whole Klang is there la..i tell you..when i was going up the escalator and i look down, all i see is heads..heads, heads heads...i tell you..like ants man...

Look at the crowd..i can't even walk..so i stand there and took pics..hehe

Actually..i didn't want to go there as it would be over-crowded. but i don't have any transport to go anywhere. There's no extra car left for me at home... So, i can't go to the concert that Canna has offered me. It's some Korean group called 'dong shen fang qi' held in stadium merdeka. My cousin suddenly chicken out because she's afraid that there might be a big crawl in KL due to the demonstration. But hey, if i have a car..i will be the one driving, using my petrol, why does she have to worry about traffic jam. I just don't understand.

So i went over to Jusco and join in with the crowd. And i went shopping, after subconciously using my credit card in a few outlets. i realise that i have spent more than 500 ringgit. Yes, i know..i only can blame myself for not being mindful..but hey..i'm still glad i bought these stuffs..

Ohh..i like this open toe from Viss only RM 55.90

Bought this pumps with 50% discount

This sandals are also at 50% off. OK, i kinda splurge a little on this but it is a new arrival at Aussino. A King size fitted bed sheet, 2 pillow cases and 1 bolster case. HA!

ok..and these 3 items are on sale, King size comforter with fitted bed sheets and 2 pillow case for only RM 99.90. Hey, i got to buy that..and i did. others are cheap too..got a 30% discount on other items that i bought....ok at least i got an umbrella and 2008 calendar free :)

And then i saw Big Apple Doughnuts???!!!?!?? In Klang?? So quickly i jump in queue, and bought 6 doughnuts..hehe. The queue is not as bad as the ones at the Curve. I hate the long queue, the long wait makes me look desperate, hey..now i can get doughtnuts anytime..ok ok..i won't brag anymore..

Hmmmm...I think i will go again tomorrow to get some more shoes..hey..it's 50% discount. Canna, you will never hear me complaning that i have no shoes to wear. Because i am going to buy a full year supply. My God, Jusco Bukit Tinggi is only walking distance from my place. I can be the first one there when there's a Jusco Member's Day, or the Carnival sale, or whatever sale.

Sigh, I am going to be so BROKE!

'Beh Tahan Girls' is back in Town!!

The Bak Kut Teh Shop (Behind Klang Parade)
Remember Doris? The girl that i went to Bali with?? Guess what..SHE IS BACK IN TOWN!!! *gasp* *banging head against the wall* She is now visiting Klang so often that i'm getting sick of her..*HAHA* I told her that it is time for her to shift down to Klang as she is missing us so much..guess what..and she might do that..

She was here around the end of October, she wanted to get her Louis Vuitton bag fix as it is still under warranty. we had our breakfast in Klang, non other than the famous Bak kut Teh. Im telling you, this must be the cleanest, most organize and moden Bak Kut Teh shop out there. We ordered a claypot bak kut teh and a dry bak kut teh. As usual, Samantha will have to prepare the tea for us. Bak Kut Teh tea making is her specialty man....

What a show off - She's actually concentrating not to spill the tea..haha

Samantha showing off her Tea-making skills

The modern Water flask - no more messy charcoal style kettle

Peace! I don't eat pig!

The food is good. Not that oily, the soup is quite clear and you can still taste the herbs in the soup. It's so clean, normally, if you order claypot bak kut teh, they will just serve boiling hot and later it was left to cool. But this shop is different, they provide you a small little stove to keep your meal warm. Nice place to hang out...even they take orders in english...ha!

Claypot still looks new

Yummy!!

Rice presentation also nice - Wah!!

After that we were on our way to KLCC, doing some window shopping and Samantha to have some coffee, but ther's no Coffee Bean at KLCC. So, we decided to go for San Francisco. Sigh..Doris is like so eager to treat us..so we let her la..Got us some coffee and a cheese cake.
How can it be Doris without some cam-whoring??!!??!

Caught in the Act! (cam-whoring again)

Samantha and Doris!

Doris and Me

Samantha and Me

something that i see in KLCC that is so unique

This one is also nice right?

Happily Ever After ??!!??!!

I guess the latest topic that everyone is talking are about marriage. Even my friends are blogging about this topic (refer to Canna). Maybe is because friends around my age are at a marriageable age, most of them are in the midst of planning to get prepared for the Year 2009.

There's one particular close friend of mine just got married in early September 2007. He has always been very good around girls and i know most of his more than a handful of partners. Most of them can't get along with me and another friend of mine because both of us are girls and it seems that a guy and a girl can't be 'just friends'. Girls around him are always insecure and objected him from meeting us, not even a simple lunch. The worst part is, he always try to please them until a day that he explode. Is this really 'LOVE' that everyone is talking about?

The big question is 'WHY DO YOU THINK PEOPLE GET MARRIED'? I have friends that are married already. Most of them don't practice safe sex and accidentally got pregnant, which have ruin their life and have no options but stop furthering studies and be a housewife. I'm not saying that being a housewife is bad, it's that..you are only 21 years old. There are so many things ahead of you to look forward to, to explore, to learn and to experience.

Some people get married just for the sake of wanting to get married. Some because other friends are getting married, so they don't want to lose out and plan for a marriage, some wanted it for their 21st birthday present. Is it because of LOVE the main reason for marriage? i don't think so! It's like a Rat Race out there, people comparing on the total guest they have invited, location of their wedding dinner, wedding pictures, wedding bands, the date that they are getting married, the reception, the car escort, even their husband are being compared. It's never-ending.

I feel is more like a fashion trend, marriage is no longer taken seriously. Wedding bands are like 'Accessories' to show off to friends. It does not symbolizes anything significant to anyone anymore. Is LOVE the main reason for marriage? Or is it just lust and desire? A Fashion Trend? Is it the personality of the partner the main factor? What about compatibility? I wonder myself. LOVE is so overrated, i guess there won't be any specific answer to my questions.

Marriage is no longer about 'I-want-to-grow-old-with-you' or 'i-want-to-have-beautiful-kids-with-you'. It's like what you see in Hollywood, people get married and divorce so frequently and easily. I guess normal people like us won't be handle so many marriages that ends with 'irreconcilable differences'. That is the most common statement or i can say 'reasons' that the Hollywood Artistes use to file for any divorce.

Why are the divorce rates are getting higher by the days? The more civilized we become, the more ignorant we become. What if it involves kids? What will happen to them? Sigh! People can be so selfish nowadays. Who is it to blame? The television (Haha)!' Always blame the westerner for bad influences. Our upbringing? Or people just don't really care anymore? If people don't take marriage seriously, the why in the first place people get married anyway? I just don't understand people nowadays.

It is not a 'Game' or something that you can play around with. People always say that marriage is about 2 person. Lovers always say that it is about 'You and Me', unfortunately, it is not only about 2 person but it is more than that. When you are married, not only you are married to the person that you love but you are also 'married' into his/her family. Decisions made, are no longer for 2 person. It involves each and every member of the family around you. I may be wrong, but this is what i think after listening and seeing some problems that people face.

I was watching this movie 'Shall we Dance' i don't know about how many thousand time. There's this particular dialog and caught my attention. As i say ah..most of my friends are getting married, so i just want to share the excerpt with everyone that is married or getting married. I feel it is quite true what 'Susan Sarandon' had said in this scene. She had hired a private investigator to check on her husband (Richard Gere) who she suspects was having an affair. But later found out that he was actually out taking dancing lessons. The private investigator told that he is going for a dancing competition and she said she want to be there to witness it. The private investigator was shocked, and he asked why are you doing this?

She answered:

"Why is it do you think people get married? Because we need a witness to our lives. There's a billion people on the planet, what does anyone life really mean? But in a marriage, you are promising to care about everything. The GOOD things, the BAD things, the MUNDANE things, ALL OF IT, EVERYTIME, EVERYDAY. You are saying, your life will not go unnoticed, because i will notice it. Your life will not go unwitnessed, because i will be your witness."

I really like what she said, it gives me a different perspective of marriage. I guess her statement said it all. The most important thing is that you want your life partner to know each and everything about you, what you do, your dreams and share your life experiences.
