Breaking Free!!!

This post has been long overdue, i just can't find the time to just sit down and blog properly this whole year. As you can see this year is really productive for me personally as i have been doing things that i can't split myself or give myself time to...you know..BLOG!

I don't want to say i am finally back...as you can see..when i finally thought i can spend some time here..then something will surely come up..so..no promises here..I'll blog as frequent as i can..definitely. Anyhow, there are a few unfinished entry in my draft right now that i am contemplating whether i should post it or not, kinda embarrassing to post up events that had happened early this year...hehe. As you know..it's almost the end of the year.

I guess i will eventually post it, as i don't care anymore. Yup, my new year resolution will be, 'Do not let anyone take advantage of you'. Why this motto? Because people treat me like shit and i will not let anyone do that to me anymore. So many people around me that disappoint me, so i will not anyone affect me or my emotions or my actions anymore. I'll do what i want and i do what makes me happy. Hear this, you will not take my dignity away from me and i will not let you treat me like i do not exist.

I have made a lot of thinking about this, whatever happens from early this year till now, anything good or bad, has been playing on my mind all year round and i had enough. Yes, i know i am old and it take me so long to learn. That was my weakest point, i trust people too much and i have faith in people and i believe that there is some good things in them. But after so many 'unfortunate event', i have already think it through as i envy people who can just breakaway..and i will, eventually i will.

I know I've been rambling on like some crazy woman, but it just flows out from me. I am saying this not on impulse but these thoughts have been in my mind over and over again. These 'events' keep playing and rewinding itself in my head. I won't let them affect me anymore. My New Year will be a great one..i know. I'm finally breaking free of all things bad!

I need more time!!!!

Time really flies, then i realise that 1/4 of the year had past....my Chinese New Year template is still up..haha...time to take it down eh..That is also how long i have neglected my blog.

Chinese New Year passed in a flash, didn't do much this year. It's very quiet and not as merry as the year before. I've done lesser visiting, i feel like i'm too old to be going around collecting red packets. And it is getting lesser by the years...not complaining though, i blame my age..haha

I've started my German Language class after 2 years that i have completed my beginner's level. Thank god i didn't lose touch on the grammar and vocabs, just need a little freshen up. I think i'm doing quite well, i'm finally catching up. Initially Goethe Institut didn't allow me to do my 2nd Level, the reason was that the certificate availability is only for 2 years. But i convince them i don't need to go through the 1st level and that i am confident that i can catch up the 2nd level.

As you know, they try to say anything to make you think twice. They say things like, the 2nd level is more difficult (i'm like duh!!), more grammar, more vocabs, (well, definitely i'm expecting that right?). Well, i'm very determine not to start from the beginner's level again. I've done once in a Volkhochschule in Bad Krueznach, Germany. Then when i came back to Malaysia and did the 1st level for the certificate sake because in Germany i didn't get a certificate for it. No, i won't go through the 1st level for the 3rd time.

So, they gave me an ultimatum. Either i join the 1st level or i can join the 2nd level, but they will not allow me to fall back to the 1st level if i can't catch up. It seems that the 1st level class is always full, come to see it, the Saturday class 1st level can still accommodate me if they want to.

But hey..i die die also will never fall back lar....i pay more for the 2nd level course le...But that is not the main issue here, i just want to move on and i know the 1st level is not a challenge for me. I just need to improve more on the rule of DATIV and AKKUSATIV, damn..i get confuse on when to use which... I just need more practice.

Just a little update on what i am doing currently. Will be taking another major exam on the 16th of April which is the Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) examination. I work late on all my week days, i'm too tired to study at night as i need to get up early the next day for work. Saturday i have my German class and i feel bad that i sometimes don't do the homework given, it's just my priority right now is my exam as i am not sponsored by the company. They think that i'm willing to pay for myself because i am planning to leave to company after that (what bull is that right?). Anyway, this topic requires another blog entry which i will do. So, i'm juggling my Saturday night for my German hausaufgabe and reading for my CDCS exam.

Please hope that i can pull this through, and for this i took a week of on the last week of March to get prepared and catch up on my revision. I hope it is worth it..yea..i guess it is :)

Weird People!

These few weeks i have encountered a few funny scenarios, OK i won't say funny, perhaps weird. Yea, that's the word, WEIRD! Which at one point irritates me and makes me think and i don't really understand their intentions.

One morning, i got out of the house getting ready to go to work, started my car engine and this lady that is staying around my neighborhood greeted me. Well, she thought i was my mother you see. When she came nearer than she realize it wasn't my mother. She was like, 'Oh, i thought it was your mother' (Yea, most people got mix up between me and my mom. So i got kind of used to the confusion). 'You are a bit fatter than you mom' she said. I was like 'huh??!! first time you talking to me and you are calling me fat??!!! Wah, really unexpected lo. I was caught and flabergasted (i was thinking, don't need to remind me that i am fat lor, i know i am fat la. Tell me something that i don't know at least)

Anyway, she continued talking to me although she can see i started the car engine and opening my house gate and getting ready to jump into the car. She continued talking to me as if i am another auntie, taking my own time putting up the clothes and hanging out at the lawn and gossiping with the other auntie neighbors. She ask 'How come i never seen your mother? Your mother never comes out one is it? Reluctantly i answered her, My mom is sleeping and yea she seldom comes out of the house. She likes to stay in.

Then she continued
Lady: Oh, I am just staying around the corner here. Just moved in into the Jugjit's House. Just there only (pointing her fingers to the direction of her house)
Me: I see, I don't know them (Gave her a smile)
Lady: Ah??? You don't know the Jugjit ah? Stay there one (Pointing her finger again)
Me: (Force myself to look at the direction of her finger) Nope, don't know them.
Lady: Ahh??? You don't know your neighbors? You don't come out and mix around with your neighbors? It's good to come out and mix around and get to know your neighbors.
Me: (Gave her a forced grin) I work till late at night, so i don't have the time to come out and talk to other neighbors. OK, i need to go to work now. Bye!

This auntie is trying to teach me how to lead my life la. Which i find it annoying lor. !st of all after greeting me for the first time, she called me fat. Nevermind, i still layan her. Then comment on my mom not hanging out with the neighbors, which i feel is so unnecessary. After that, telling me that i should mix around with the neighbors.

Wah, my conclusion is, i am not a full-time housewife and i have no obligation to 'mix around' with the other neighbors and building any fellowship with them. Imagining me standing around with the group of aunties talking about their husbands and kids or even grandkids. Me talk about what? Little Joey(baby that my mom babysits) ah?

Sigh, just leave me alone and leave my life alone. Don't tell me what i should or should not do!

Another incident was over lunch with my colleagues. 4 of us went out for lunch, i mean naturally after makan we will have a short chat la. One of my colleague don't speak mandarin, so i find it kind of rude to be speaking in mandarin when someone doesn't understand it is sitting at the same table.

The other 2 of my colleagues was talking in mandarin about something. I mean naturally i will be listening to their conversation right. After one of them have finished talking, i didn't heard the last part of the conversation. So, naturally i asked, what did you say? I didn't get to hear the last part. My colleague looked at me and blink a few times and finally say 'Nothing!'

I was like..idiot! If it is something you don't want me to listen to, then why talk openly on an open table where anyone sitting around you can listen to your conversation. If it is a fucking secret, then move to another table and talk. It is already disrespectful to be speaking another language that one person sitting at the table does not understand. And when someone understands the language asking, you answered nothing!!!

I really don't like people like this. Made me feel like a dumbass lor!!! I just don't understand the whole situation. I don't know what her intentions are. Talking about something openly, but when someone ask you don't want to elaborate further. Make me feel like i am the busybody one lor.

Can anyone explain to me what's going on ah? I am so confused now lor? Shocked! Dumbfounded! Flabbergasted! Annoyed! Irritated! Angry! Agitated! I really don't know what i am feeling right now.

Fast???!!!

I've receive a sms from an old friend of mine, asking me to meet up. We have not met up for more than 3 years. The last we met is on our final days in college before our Graduation. Wow, It has been so long, so i was kind of excited, we used to hang out a lot during our college years and i used to overnight at her place for projects. Ahh, reminiscing the past, lovely times we had. Time flies now that i feel so old already, hehe.

We plan for a meet on one of the weekends for a lunch date. So i made appointment with Samantha to make her Saturday free. A few days before the date, i receive a sms from her again. she wrote 'Mel, i think we have to change our date time, let's make it a dinner instead of a lunch date. Is that OK with you?' So, i replied 'Why ah? suddenly change time? I thought we could meet up and after lunch can chit chat and jalan-jalan a bit la'. After a few mins she replied again 'Darling, I've forgotten that i am fasting. It's puasa month la, so i can only have dinner with you'.

Sigh, how can i forget that it is the Puasa month. She herself forgotten about it when we plan that date, Haha! So, we postponed our meeting till after the Raya. Just thought i share this funny conversation i had with my friend.

Just want to wish everyone 'Selamat Berpuasa'.

Team Building Batch 4 -The Sequel

Finally i get to squeeze some time to update on my so-called 'company trip' to Genting View Resort'!! Our team buildings are never ever relaxing, after working for more than 10 hours at work, they still put our brains plus body to work. I only get to sleep like 4 to 5 hours during my 2 and a half days there, i tell you..i even have to skip breakfast because i rather sleep than to wake up an hour earlier to have breakfast...seriously.

I manage to take a few pictures of the room, not too bad, better condition than the 1st 2 team building places that we have been. Our first team building was at Lembah Azwen Resort at Hulu Langat (worst place i have been to) The 2nd one was not bad, it was held at D'Ark, Janda Baik, Pahang. The place was quite cooling and we got to share a room with 4 other people (the toilet is really scary, i was so afraid to bath alone. Dare not even to go pee during midnight leh, i tahan until next morning when everyone is awake...i tell you!!!)

This time, the 3rd time was the best so far. But, there is always a catch. The first 2 times is mostly classrooms activities and only a few outdoor activities. We got to get enough sleep at a very bad condition and uncomfortable beds. This time!!! We have comfy beds and TV and everything to enjoy, but we can't find time to enjoy it because we are loaded with projects and presentations that we have to crack our heads the whole night before we can even get to sleep!! Damn Scope!! Damn my company!!! (I really hope none of my superior is reading this :P~)

Anyway, here are the pictures taken before being pulverized by me and my team members.

The beds for me and Kak Wes!

Clean toilet!

The Balcony

The Hall

Our neighbours

The scenery from outside the balcony is fantastic, anyhow, it is not as cold as i have expected it to be. It was raining most of the time but still no cool breeze, kinda disappointed with that, really don't even need a jacket or long sleeves.

We reached Genting View Resort at 4.30pm and was ushered stright into the Main hall and brief on our first activity which is the 'Run To Victory'. I didn't manage to participate in any of the outdoor activities as i had a sprained ankle. I am limping away most of the away, so you see, it was a good thing for me as i have time to take pictures...hehe!!

Sigh!! Sadly, my team ended up at the last placing. Hey, at least we try right? Then, our next assignment is to come up witha a team name and a battle cry!! I hate doing this because the 1st time you do this, it is interesting. The 2nd time, it's easy because we have done it before. But the 3rd time, we have already used all of our best idea and it gets bored and kinda lame now. Anyway, it is a task we have to fulfill. We finally come up with a lame team name 'Believe'. The battle cry? Super lame!!

Believe We Can Win
(Our palm touching our chest)
.
Believe(As in out team name la) is the best!
(pull our hand out and give a thumbs up)
.
Believe is 'Mo Tak theng' (It means that we are incomparable)
(make your palm into a fist and give it a little strong shake)

Percayalah!! (it means 'believe it' in our malay language)
(holding your fist and raise up to the air -Tunku Abdul Rahman like when he shouted MERDEKA!)

Hmppphhhh!!!!
(Bruce Lee like -with your right thumb pushing your nose to a side)

Yup!!! That was our battle cry..super lame right?

After presenting our new team's name and battle cry, we were out straight on a project to design a futuristic car, not only designing it as in drawing it out, but we were given an empty frame and asked to build an actual model of our sketches with the limited resources that was provided to use. We we given fine wires, a plier, colour papers, scissors, double sided tape, celotapes and magicpens. That was all that have been given to us to build a replica of our design.

cracking our head with an empty frame

It looks like a beetle

HHmmm.........(rubbing chin)

Note that it is already after 2 am in the morning!!!

We have given up a little.

Our leader can't help but went to sleep..

Our design turns out...well.... it actually sucks..
Tadah!!!

Because of this project i slept at 4am and miss my breakfast. We failed in our presentation because we were not prepared and not confident with our designs (the other team did really good with the design) Well, we did actually underestimated them, we thought they would face the same problem that we were facing. Turns out the other teams have designers and engineers major. (Seriously, not trying to find excuses)

The next day, we have to do the flying fox and absailing activity. Which i was glad i injured my leg, if i don't, i will surely freak out. It is so scary, and high up there, and people screaming and and and...it's very high!!! Anyway, when that was finally over, we were thrown with another project, no time to sleep the night again...i will talk about the project the next time. Our project is well liked by our Wholesale Banking Head that he had approved and qualify our project to be on trial. IF, the project is a success and implemented in our company, we were promised RM50,000 $$$$$$

We were so excited, because not all team were qualified. We were so lucky that the idea pop up during our short lunch break with three quarter of the team were half asleep. Wish me luck!!!

After the big presentation, and our team celebrated with joy. Exchange contact numbers and emails, we need to meet up again at work to do our project leh...RM50,000$$$$ here we come!!!

Official Team Photo have to be taken!!

There!!!!

I surprise myself sometimes

It's a boring day and suddenly i have the urge to unleash that inner chef talent that i have in me. So, i have decided to cook chili beans for dinner served with salad (i'm trying to be healthy here). Went to Giant and get all the ingredients that i need to prepare my chili beans, with the help of my mom (she just won't leave me alone with the cooking, she just have to add in some stuff without me seeing it).

Firstly, diced a whole big onion, a clove of garlic, 1 red paprika, some straw mushrooms (it's optional, but i just love mushrooms) and a few strips of sliced bacon. Toss the bacon into the pan with some olive oil, stir till the bacon turns brown. Next, put in the onion and wait till it turned brown and finally toss in the garlic and in a little bit, throw in the mince beef (it really depends how much meat you want).

Chopped big onions

Slice the Bacon

Minced beef

Red and Yellow Paprikas

Kidney Beans

Chick Peas

Bacon and a generous amount of olive oil

Oh, at the same time you want to boil some water and toss a few tomatoes in to make you own tomato puree. After a few mins, peel off the skin and sliced it. It is super hot, so you would want to do this with running cold water so you won't burn your fingers.

Tomatoes in boiling water

Peel off the skin

Slice it!

After the minced beef is cooked, put in 3 table spoons of chili powder(i like it spicy, you can add on or decrease the amount of chili to your liking).

Minced beef cook and add in the chili powder.

Mixed it well and you can see the meat turns red, add in the paprika and the straw mushrooms. After that, then you can add in the sliced tomatoes and also a can of whole peeled tomatoes that you can get it off the shelf from hypermarket. It's a little sweeter than the ones we boiled ourselves it also have some puree with it so your chili beans won't be too dry.

Canned whole peeled tomatoes

Lastly, put in the chick peas and kidney beans with the rest. Add some chicken stock and shimmer it for half an hour on low fire.

Add in the chick peas and kidney beans

Voila! You have your Chili beans cook to perfection. You can eat it just like that or dipped with french toast if you want. Yummy!!!

It really taste so good.
Muahaha!! I have release the inner chef in me! Not bad eh..my chili beans was a success!!

UOB Bank really sucks!!

OK, this time i am really pissed off!! I am sick of calling customer service every time my statement arrives. They just love to simply charge LATE PAYMENT CHARGES. Please be aware and check your statements every month and make sure that you are paying what you suppose to pay!

Please do not blindly pay whatever that is outstanding. My dad makes this mistake that he never checks. I have this habit of checking each and every transaction that i make with my card. And i always see there is some unnecessary charges debitted to me. I am really sick of UOB right now. I will definitely cancel my card with them after i receive another credit card from another bank. I'm really through with UOB!

Enough said! i don't want to dwell further on what really happen that i called up customer service and give them a piece of my mind. They reluctantly reverse the late payment charges and finance charges for me. This is not the first time i tell you!! This is not the first time! I'll make sure that it is reflected on my next statement and after that i will cancel my credit card!

You suck UOB, you really SUCK!!!

PC Fair - Powtech Marketing SUCKS!

I have been thinking on whether should i publish this post or not. Now i decided not to contemplate anymore and go ahead with this post. I want everyone to know what kind of treatment i am getting from this company and i wish to share with everyone out there. It is no excuse the way you treat a customer.

I was at the PC Fair last month to look for an external hard disk and also a scanner, as you know there is a lot of booths to scout through and bargain for the best and most reasonable price before you do any purchase. I mean, who doesn't do that, you want to make sure that what you buy is value for money and the most cheapest yet most reasonable price you can get.

After quering from a few booth, i stop by this company name POWTECH MARKETING and i saw this guy available and went over to ask him the price of the external hard disk available. He look very unpleasant but i was there to get the infomation i need and the price is too high compared to the other booths that i had visited. So, i said thank you and left.

To my surprise, he threw me a remark that i glad i just walk away and pretending not hearing. If he said to my face, ohh i am going to bring hell. Instead, i took a few pictures of the guy with the company name and post it here. Everyone out there before they go to the next PC Fair, make sure NOT TO BUY ANYTHING from this company! Remember POWTECH MARKETING! Please avoid visiting this comapny if you encounter them again.

This guy have the nerve to say 'These kind of people, they just come and ask and will not buy. They are just a waste of time, a waste of my time' (He said it in mandarin) Doris heard it and she point at me screaming 'Did you hear what he say??!!' i coolly told her, just walk away, no point arguing with this kind of person as there are so many booths here. If he can't respect other customer, no one will buy from them eventually.

All i am saying is, we have the right to enquire and that doesn't mean we HAVE to buy the item. EVERYONE at the Fair will definitely ask around to get the bargain they can find, that is what i was doing. Yes, it is packed with people and it is definitely a long day for them. Well, it is a long day for me too. I was exhausted by the end of the day, pushing through the crowds. But it is no excuse for saying things like that to any potential customer. So, i have decided to boycott this company FOREVER! Everyone that read this! Please be aware!!

You can be rude, i can be very unethical too! :P~

I'm Miserable!!

Sigh!!!! Not a good start at the beginning of my entry today... I'm going to say SIGH!!!!!! again. Why am i upset? Because i am sick in bed and Colbie Caillat is in town!! She is having a showcase at The Laundry Bar!!! I guess it will be over by now.

Damn it!! They don't even sell the tickets. Strictly for invitations only or you could win the tickets. I don't have much luck on lucky draws and competition, so forget about winning tickets to see Colbie Caillat in person. She can't held a concert for now because she only have one album. She is one of my favourite singer, after Elliot Yamin of course.

And there is Luther Vandross, Will Downing, Micheal Buble, Celine Dion ( She concert in Malaysia is in April*gasp*) Who else? Can't think of any more. Definitely like songs that are easy to listen to, easy to sing along. Yes, i love jazz! Sigh!! Why can't we have big events like Jakarta Jazz Festival. All we get is Jazz festival that invites crappy singers that don't even sing jazz...just some gibberish chanting and it sounded more like rock music than jazz. Jamming with their instruments instead of like 'jazzing' HAHA with their instruments.

Anyway, this entry is about Colbie. So, i would like to share some of Colbie's songs that i fell in love with. First was the song that made her famous which is called "BUBBLY". I guess all of you should know by now! Really soothing and easy to listen to. Makes you feel nice and warm inside :) All her songs in the self- titled Album called COCO makes you feel this way. The 2nd song i fell in love with is definitely OXYGEN!!! Highly recommended by me! REALIZE is also nice, MAGIC also nice, MISTLETOE also nice..ok ok..all also nice. Listen to music better! Enjoy!

Lost in Cyber??

I registered last year as a voter to fulfill my responsibility as a responsible Rakyat. Feeling proud that i get to vote for the upcoming election and it would also be my first time voting :)

I went on the the SPR website to find out where my voting station is located. To my amaze, the result that i get is 'Data not found!' Ehhhh??? How come ah??? I registered last year already. how can they missed my application?

I wonder what went wrong, then my checked my mom's voting station, her record show's that she is voting at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bukit Tinggi. *Scratching my head* My mom registered a month later than me. How come hers is recorded and not mine? We registered at the same Post Office but she registered one month after me?

So i took the pink slip that they gave me after registration to be a eligible voter to the voting station as i assume me and my mom should be placed at the same area. There was a BN booth set up with computers. So, i went there to query, they could not help me either. They say the only option that i have is to re-register the next time when they have the next General Election. I was like WHAT???!!! What if my application got lost again in the Cyber space?

The more i think, the more impossible it is. I understand if the mail got lost or undelivered. But for an online application to get lost or unrecorded?? It is pretty impossible right? It is just with a click of a button right? Then how come it will get lost leh????

Wasted 1 vote from me!

Election Campaign Gone Bad!

The election is on the 8th of March, it's just around the corner. Many candidates held talks at differnet venues to woo people to vote for them. This is where promises are made but most of them are not fulfilled. People are fed with hope and vision for abetter future but in the end, all of them are left dissapointed because none of the promises made before the election was followed through.

I was browsing the net and came across the article wrote by Raja Petra Kamarudin. He was witty on the first few paragraphs of his article and definitely got into the real deal in the end. Let me share a little of his joke

'There is a very old joke that once made its rounds around the time the D.P. Vijendran sex videotapes first exploded onto the scene. The joke went as follows:

Samy Vellu, S. Subramanian and Vijendran decided to have a boys' night out, complete with women and everything thrown in. They checked into the presidential suit of a five-star hotel and after dinner each adjourned to one of the attached bedrooms with the women they had 'booked' for the night. After the fun and games, when the women had gone home, they sat down for a nightcap and compared notes.

“How was your woman?” Subramaniam asked Samy.
“Not very good lah. My wife is better......How was yours?”
“Mine also not that good,” replied Subramaniam. “My wife is also better......And what about yours Vije?”
“Mine also not that exciting. But you are both right, your wives are certainly much better.”

Of course, this is just one of the countless off-colour jokes about those who walk in the corridors of power, in particular involving the MIC. If we compiled all the jokes ever told about Malaysian politicians, we would be able to publish a book, maybe in many volumes.'

Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK)

If there's such book were publish, i'm sure i'll be the first one buying it, haha! There's another joke mentioned by RPK, if you really want to read it. Just click on this link. I'm sure it will amuse you. the jokes he shared actually leads to the message that he really want to put it out there, which is to give a clearer picture to the Malaysian Indian on which party to vote. I wouldn't want to elaborate further(shh...i don't want to get into trouble with the ISA). But i will share a few excerpt that really hits me in the head, as we are not really aware that this is actually happening out there.
.
It all started when the campaign advertisment quote with red block letter 'IF YOU DON'T VOTE FOR MIC THEN BE PREPARED TO PAY THE PRICE.....' it really sounds like a blackmail to me. This is why RPK urged the Malaysian Indians to listen to what he have to say
'It is time the Indians reclaim their dignity. It is time the Indians no longer allow themselves to be taken for granted. It is time the Indians realise that they need not succumb to threats and blackmail and that the Malays and Chinese will stand by them and defend them if they stand up for their rights.' By RPK
.
After reading this incident reported by RPK, i was very shock. I'm sure nobody knows about this. It's really an eye opener for me. This is my first year to be a part of the election, and it's really sad you have to find out certain things this way. The excerpt
'I remember 20 years ago when the Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry met Samy Vellu at the height of the mid-1980s recession. I was then a central committee member and we lamented about the lack of contracts and how many Malay businessmen were facing bankruptcy. Samy Vellu replied that he is already doing as much as he could by dishing out contracts to Malay companies.

“I am not a Minister for the Indian community,” replied Samy Vellu. “I am a minister for the Malays. I look after the Malays more than I look after the Indians. It is the Malays who vote me into office. Without the Malay votes I would not be in power. So I care more for the Malays than the Indians. What more do you want me to do?”

Samy Vellu uttered this most surprising declaration 20 years ago in front of more than 1,000 Malay businessmen. Ahmad Sebi Abu Bakar, then the CEO of TV3, agreed with what Samy Vellu said.

“We put him in JKR so that he can privatise all the projects to Umno. If we put a Malay as a Minister it would be very sensitive. With an Indian as a Minister the non-Malays cannot say anything.”' By RPK
.
Sigh, enough said read the whole article for yourself.

Blood is Thicker Than Water

I think the idiom speaks for itself. Who is more important in comparison with your own flesh and blood? NO ONE! If anything happens to anyone of my family, I'll be the first one there. I'll put down everything and head straight to my family member in need. Even if it will cost me my job or even a promotion, I'll sacrifice it because when they need me, i will be there no question asked. No one can question me what i do for my family. But to what extend?

I know this will contradict myself, but i just have something to share. When one of your family member had a fight with one of your best friend, whose side are you on? Naturally, you will be on your family's side. Hey, because Blood is Thicker Than Water right? That is the most natural thing people will do and i don't doubt that. Because if it is me in that situation, I'll definitely will stand on my family side, initially.

Why? Because they are family, it's cliche, i know! But hey family is family. No one can be rude to anyone of my family! But i will definitely talk to my best friend and clarify the situation. Then only i will talk to family member on their side of the story. Well, i don't expect anyone to lie on this matter because family don't lie to each other and definitely you don't want your best friend to lie to you either. If my family member is in the wrong, i will definitely say it clearly that they are wrong because it is wrong to get angry with someone furthermore in a fight without knowing the truth. If it is my best friend's fault, i will also tell him/her off because he/she is my best friend. Why be friends if we are not truthful to each other? But honestly, my family member will get more scolding from me than my friend.

My sister told me that one of her friend said something bad about me. It really pisses her off and she stood up for me and got into an argument. Love you sis, for standing up for me. If anyone talks shit about anyone of my family, i will get pissed too! I'm sure everyone would feel that way, even whatever mistakes they have done previously will be totally forgotten.

Yes, we do argue and bicker a lot. Which sibling doesn't? We may shout at each other but deep down inside, we have already forgiven and we will totally forgot about it the next day. We don't keep grudge towards family member. I may be fighting with my sibling tonight and total pals the next morning. That is the magic of being in a family. You totally forgive and forget. BUT, what if it is because of a family member that caused the feud? Will you easily forgive and forget?

I have been through this situation where my best friend wrongly accused me of something and without knowing the truth. My friend (let's called that person as 'A') got angry with me and we got into a fight, because A is only hearing it from the family member's side. Yes, you will believe them, definitely right? But don't get angry with another person without asking and jump into a conclusion with no facts. I won't go into detail what we were fighting about because it doesn't matter what happens, because i am emphasizing on handling the situation than dwelling with actually what happen.

When someone accused you for something, what would you usually do? You avoid that particular person right? Well, that's what i did. Firstly, i was very hurt because A is my close family friend. To be accused by someone that you think knows you best it's even more hurtful. Secondly, A is the one that i thought understands me the most because we have been friends for more than 8 years. Lastly, To end a friendship this way is not worth it because we have been friends for so long. What do i tell my parents? We are no more friends? What if A's parents bump into my parents? that would be awkward.

Thankfully, A realised the mistakes and tried to mend things for us again. Truthfully, i can forgive for everything that A says or did to me mentally and emotionally. But i don't think i can ever forget this incident entirely although we have promise to each other that we will put everything behind us.I will definitely try, but i know there is like a barrier now. I'm always thinking whether i do this or that is appropriate or what i say how is A going to imply. I may say one thing and A will misinterpret it as something else. I become more paranoid and develop a inferior complex towards anything i say or do. Definitely not a normal friendship anymore.

What i am trying to say is, how can we approach this situation without getting into an argument and further say things to each other that hurts even more. No one can handle the truth, that's why we need true friend to say things that normal acquaintance would not say it. We need that, someone to put our feet back to the ground when we need it, someone to pull us back into reality, someone to hit you in the face when they know you are being a bitch!

I'm glad that we had worked things out finally. Hopefully with this, we will understand each other more. This is not the first time we quarrelled, but it pulls us even closer. I'm happy that we got to know each other and learn from each other and accept each others mistakes. I'm really trying really hard to put everything behind me. Hopefully, one day i will totally forget about it. As i really miss the old times i had with A. Just pray that we will be back to the way we used to be!

Everyone knows about my passion for artwork, if you have beenreading my blog, you will definitely know that my company always held this Decoration competition. Sigh! couldn't help myself but to get invlove again. I am telling myself that this is going to be my last time getting invlove in these knid of activities, it doesn't help with my overall ratings anyway. So, i better just sit down in front of my computer and just WORK.

My Team

The judgement day was on the 4th of January, 3 days before the big day! Hopefully we win again, as we have bribe the judges with cheese and cream crackers. Why not Mandarin Oranges and Cookies?

It's the Year of the Rat ma, so our theme of deco is all about rat. My colleagues are all dressed as rats. Definitely we have to eat rat food lo, CHEESE!! Improvise ma, Mandarin oranges is old school liao la.

Then we have our own Lion Dance and 'Ta Tou Fu', I guess with these two things we have already stolen the show and gain the judges attention. Our main purpose la, because just by deco, we won't be able to win, performance, a little extra will give us some bonus points, hehe!

Anyway, that is how we celebrate Chinese New Year at work.

Cute or not?? (Say cute, if not i'll bite you)

Superstitions!!

Superstitions! I really don't understand why some people can really believe everything about superstitions and be superstitious. I know every religion have their own superstitions, it is mostly traditions from ancestor and are consider a taboo if it is not followed correctly.

I am a Chinese and i know how some Chinese can be overly superstitious. For me and my family, superstitions are followed when we have some elderly people around and when we know they are very particular in these kind of things. We will do it out of respect, but not to our everyday practice.

I respect each and every religion and their do's and don'ts, but not to the extreme. So, i just thought of talking about this for one reason that Chinese New Year is around the corner, and as most Chinese know that during Chinese New Year Celebration have lots of it's Dos and Don'ts we have to follow. For instance, we can't sweep the floor on the Eve of New Year because it means that we will sweeping out all the luck out the door, or when making prayers we are not allow to offer pears (did you ever notice that?) Pear in Chinese literally means 'to separate' and it is not auspicious for the Chinese.

Remember i talked about a few guys that my friend introduce to me where we went for the durian feast. Just something that i like to share. I find it weird and quite dumbfounded when i hear it through my friend.

To cut the long story short, we were at my friend's friend house and there is lots of durians scattered around on the floor. Initially i didn't want to have any because i have a meeting the next morning. Didn't want my breath to stink, so declined their offer. After much persuasion from the guys and they seem sincere, so i took a few.

After eating, i had problem throwing the seeds, i threw from afar, hoping my aim would be accurate and ends in the plastic bag. Damn, i miss it. So i carefully step over the durians minding not to step on any and hurt myself, i manage to step over and pick up my seed and throw it into the plastic bag. Little did i know that i have actually offend some of the guys and i did not obey some of the Chinese superstitions.

The next morning, my friend called me and sounded quite disappointed. She said 'Hey, you guys makes me really makes me mad yesterday(In a joking way)'. I was like what?? What did we do? She answer 'do you know what you have done? Have you notice that my friend looks quite blur yesterday and shock? I was like HUH??? My friend said, 'Do you know that you cross over the durians yesterday? I said, 'Yea, i was throwing the durian seeds into the waste paper plastic' She said 'Do you know that girls are not allowed to crossover food when other guys are going to eat it too??

Obviously i didn't know that, i never heard of any Chinese superstitions that said that girls are not allowed to 'cross over' any food. I dumbly say 'No, I'm not aware of that?' Finally my friend said 'did you notice that my friend was looking at you when you cross over the durian? Are you trying to give them free 'Black Magic'?' I'm like WTF???!!!??!

My mother never told me about this? What Chinese Superstition is that?? I am a Chinese too, i should know about it right?? What you expect me to do? the durians are scattered everywhere, there is only one waste paper plastic available, and all i can do is cross over the durians. It is not intentional, furthermore, I'm totally not aware of this particular taboo. She caught me at the wrong time when i was at work, so i couldn't stand for my right, i was dumbfounded.

I mean who in the hell puts food on the floor? That's common sense! I thought people eat on the table? But durians? Why is it compared to durians? Maybe the guy looks at me because i am too fat? Or i have a big butt, it could be also he expect me to trip on one of the durian shells and fall. It could be. Just a thought, i don't know ?

But to think a guy in the 30s and 40s, i can say they are educated people, still mind of small and minor things in life and dwell about it. That i just could not understand. How can one live, when you have to live with every superstitions hand down by ancestors and legends. I mean business is measured based on feng shui or arrangements of furniture, what colour clothing you wear, or your home facing to which direction. I mean how can people live with rules like that? I mean what if you this year your luck is facing the south direction, then you manage to find a house facing south, then next year your luck is facing north? then how? turn the house around? Impossible right?

Well, my friend called me and told me that she apologize to her friends on our behalf. I mean if you have already apologize to them, why bother telling me? I did not agree that it was my mistake, i don't even see it as a mistake. But why did she mind? Did her friends called her and complain? No! How in the world she realise her friends actually mind? Well, she told me after she woke up from her sleep then only she actually realised. Probably they talk to her in her sleep. Sigh, a guy that mind about this, I'm sure he is a very petty guy.

Since my friend have to call and explain herself, i feel she is just only being paranoid. Well, as they are all guys and i guess that maybe she likes one of the guys in that group. For she thinks that she is obligated to apologize to them, what else can i say since she has already done it for me? Well, it's her friends after all, she needs to face them in the future. If my apologizing makes her feel better and easier for her to face them, then i guess, she can go ahead.

As for me, i don't think i ever want to be of any acquaintance with them. As for a guy to think that way, it's very immature and sissy. Yucks! I asked a lot of guys at work and they are not even aware of this superstition. So i know how petty and small minded those guys can be.

New Movies To Look Out for in 2008

It's been a while since i last watch a movie with my cousin Nicole, i remember the last time was Mr.Magorium's Wonder Emporium. There was a time where me and my cousin will meet up on a Friday to catch a movie after work. She'll wait for me until i finish work, go picky her up and catch any movie.

There's once where we watch every movie that we have no other movie to watch but those foreign movies. We end up watching, Korean , Japanese and Thais horror and thriller movies. Some can be quite interesting too.

We watch Sweeny Todd : The Demon Barber from Fleet Street. Not recommended for children viewing, anayway it is rated as 18PL. I did quite enjoy the movie, i like musical actually. It is quite a typical Tim Burton's production, always peculiar, weird (in a good way) and very very dark, not much of a colour. I really like Helena Bonham Carter, she is really very entertaining, her sharp, high pitched voice, her lines are very difficult to sing. I love her character Mrs.Lovett. I like the song she sings, one is about 'The worst pie in London' and 'Poor thing'. I guess i am the only one laughing in the cinema. Oh, how can i forget? A special appearance by Sascha Baron Cohen, remember him? He is the one that made the character Ali G and Borat famous. He is a weird and funny guy.

My friends commented that nobody can believe if i say the movie is nice and funny, because i find everything funny. I'm very ticklish, i find it quite true, Haha! But i really like this musical movie by Tim Burton, with his wife as one of his cast Helene Bonham Carter, it's always entertaining. She was also the voice of 'Corpse Bride' again collaborating with Johnny Depp, which is also a production of Tim Burton, they really are a good weird coupling Ha!

Other movies that i am really anticipating for this year is definitely P.S I Love You written by Cecelia Ahern. I have read the book 2 years ago and i cry my heart out with every page turned. It is really a heart warming story, making you feel life is full of hope. Life goes on even when you have to go through shits along the journey, you know you will get to your destination, if you put your heart and soul to it. The book makes me believe in Love again, and that there's true love out there waiting for you. So, i really can't wait to see the movie.

It's a love comedy and I'm sure it's going to be great. Having Hillary Swank as the lead and Gerard Butler as her Husband in that film, remember the guy from 300? Yeah, he's the one. Great to be looking at more abs in this movie. Not to forget Lisa Kudrow, she is funny :) Click here for the trailer.

How can we forget about Narnia? Titled The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, which is the 2nd sequel of the book. It's like a fantasy world only kids can enter, sort of like the Harry Porter sequel everyone is crazy about. Read some reviews saying it is a much grungier, a much darker and more savage than the First Chronicles of Narnia. Coming soon in May in the Sates, not sure when in Malaysia. Enjoy the trailer here.

Who would have thought, Jet Li and Jackie Chan collaborating in a movie. Two with distinctively different in the Arts of Kung Fu. One of Shaolin Kung Fu where they are always serious and tough and the other with Street Smart Kung Fu style and is always funny with a touch of comedic moves.

It is sort of a English version of the Chinese Legend 'Journey to the West' but with a white prodigy. Very funny indeed and the trailer looks good. Can't wait for this either, 2 Masters of Martial Arts making a movie together :) The Forbidden Kingdom is a must watch for me.

I'm predicting the next movie 'The Dark Knight' another Batman sequel is going to be a Blockbuster hit. It's because the late Heath Ledger plays the character of The Joker, recent reviews said that his portrayal of The Joker has out-do Jack Nicholson. It is really sad to see Heath leave us at such a young age and at the peak of his career. Heath has portayed a darker and more psychotic side of 'The Joker' and i've seen the trailer, it's really scary seeing his character. Can't wait for it's premier.

More sequels to come, and this i won't miss because i've seen the other sequels far too many time. it is none other than Indiana Jones. I love Harrisson Ford in his younger day, now after so many years, getting old already la, the latest sequel titled Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull staring withhis new sidekick who i am very anticipated to see again after a great performance he did in the Transformer, cutie Shia LeBeouf.

I hope it is going to be a good installment as i love his other installments namely Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom, i really love that. I definitely feel it won't be a let down as Steven Spielberg is the Director of the film :) Look out for it.

Another sequel to Harry Potter, definitely we will be expecting it this year. The cast are not getting any younger, they have to rush into production before the cast get too old to play their parts. Everyone loves Harry Potter, so am i. The magic and mystery and witchcraft, full of imagination and fantasy that is definitely out of this world. Can't wait for Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince!

More Sex this year anyone? I guess this is the most talked about movie coming in 2008. I read in one of the gossip magazines that they have to film a few endings to mislead the paparazzi, it's definitely a top top secret. It's definitely going to be about Carrie Bradshaw finally getting married to her first Love, which is Mr. Big, that's what they called him. Samantha jones the sex kitten that fights cancer and dating a young hot model in that movie. Love to see Charlotte York embrace her new found religion as she married a Jew who is unfortunately not good in bed, can't wait to see what happen next. Of course, Miranda Hobes, the ever so uptight lawyer that juggles between her baby and house husband :) Ohh...i just can't wait for the Sex and The City Movie.

The list is never ending, there's so much more movies, great movies waiting in line. I just can't wait for all of it. 27 Dresses, Prequel to X-Men-Wolverine, Harold and Kumar-about a chinese boy and an Indian boy out for an adventure in the States and always ends up in deep trouble. A very very funny movie. An animated series staring the voice of Jim Carrey and Steve Carell, Dr. Seuss Horton Hears A Who will definitely be the next 3D animation that i looking out for and it will make you laugh your ass off (The Trailer).

Like it Firm or Limp??

I know the title sounds interesting to people to read. It definitely sound misleading, yes you are right! I'm talking none other than a good tough, firm and strong HANDSHAKE! Haha!

Recently i have this encounter with a close friend. We happen to out one night and later some of her friends called her to join them for a durian feast. Initially she declined because it is already quite late, close to midnight. Usually with us she will pester to go back early as she had to work the next next as it it is a weekday night. After a few calls from them she gave in, so she asked me if it's ok to drop by her friend's place for a while, she said she would introduce some of her friends to me. So i thought, why not? Free durian, new friends..Alright!

Actually, i don't really eat durians, i'm doing this because i know my friend loves durians. I know i can't get along with her friends, so i just took her there out of courtesy. One of her friends is in his early 40s, one in his early 30s and one in his early 20s and his girlfriend. The guys in their early 40s and 20s gave a good handshake, it show that they are sincere which is proper, it's also leave a good first impression on me. Can you read people's character with just a mere handshake. I'm sure you can, because you can really tell their personality generally with the way they shake hands. A few surveys say that too.

The guy in his early 30s, gave me a very limp handshake, it's like a lifeless flesh that i just hold on to it for a while and i let go. No grip, no shake, no nothing. Practically that should not even be considered as a handshake. It's just like, i just let out my hand and you just touch it la. I personally find it very offensive and i initially thought he is not been brought up or been thought well by family or his friends around him. I was just searching online and found this interesting piece talking about the 5 of the most general handshakes people give. This is the type of handshake that the guy in his 30s gave, called the Dead Fish Handshaker.

Dead Fish Handshaker
This type of person, who places a limp, lifeless hand in yours, is sending a negative message. While the knuckle cruncher hurts you, at least there is a desire to express a real feeling. You are left with the impression of this person having a lackluster personality.

The dead fish is the cold, clammy and indifferent handshake of someone who is passive or apathetic.
(My God, i think i did hold on to a dead fish that night)

The other 4 types of Handshake

Knuckle Cruncher
This type of person is earnest but nervous. While meaning to convey warmth through a tight grip of your hand, the person only causes you pain. The impression created is definitely that of a person who lacks sensitivity.

Pumper
This handshake is overly eager but also insecure. This person doesn’t know when to quit, almost as if stalling because of not knowing what to do next. They keep on vigorously pumping your hand up and down—and with it your entire arm. You may not feel pain but you certainly feel foolish.

Sanitary Handshaker
This person will barely put three or four fingers in your hand—and then withdraw them quickly, almost as if afraid of catching a dread disease. They appear timid and sheepish.

Condolence Handshaker
This is the person who comes across as too familiar, clasping your right arm or hand, and perhaps attempting to hug you. This behavior may be appreciated at a funeral, but it comes across as condescending and inappropriate.

This is the proper way of handshaking

Proper Handshaking
The protocol for handshaking is simple to learn. Here is what you should do: Walk up to the person you want to meet. Look into their eyes, smile, and extend you hand. Offer a warm, firm, palm-to-palm handshake.

When you proffer your hand to a stranger or a distant acquaintance, simultaneously say, “My name is......( use both first and last names ). This way you eliminate the awkward moment of the forgotten name. The person being greeted is often relieved at being reminded, and will usually respond with their full name, which will in turn relieve you.

Both men and women should rise to shake hands. Rising is a compliment; it shows energy and eagerness to connect.

Initiating a proper handshake will make an incredibly positive impression. You will be perceived as a person who is knowledgeable, possesses excellent social skills, and has leadership capabilities.

An excellent handshake shows your charm and self-confidence. It becomes an integral part of your style.

“Any person who has charm and some confidence can move in and through societies ranging from the most privileged to the most needy. Style allows the person to appear neither inferior in one location nor superior in the other.”

—Maya Angelou... (noted poet, educator, and best-selling author)

I bet everyone had encounter with some people with terrible handshakes, i had my experience with a few dead fish handshakes, it is definitely not a good feeling. The most shocking news is that i later found out that the guy with the limp handshake, is actually an assistant manager. How can that be? An assistant manager with such weak handshake. My friend also says that he is a quiet person and he never talks even if it's only 2 person in a car, it will be dead quiet even if you ask him a question and come to think of it, it's really is creepy.

I can proudly say i give proper handshaking :) What do you think about your handshake?

Miss Teen USA, Are you serious?

I love watching Beauty pageants, you name it, Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss USA, even Miss Teen USA. Such perfect body, poise, elegance, their gracefulness, they strut their stuff on stage with complete confidence. I used to admire them or most people call them Beauty Queens.

Now i just watch and laugh all the way through it, I'm not jealous of their beauty or anything like that. It seems like their exploiting their body in exchange some a few minutes of fame on camera. Fake smile, fake personality, fake everything. Yes, i do admit that some of the girls are really smart, they answer questions well, they are really intellectual and i do admire that they are setting an example that 'hey, beauty can have brains too'.

Why am i saying they are fake? Because what they portray on the camera are not themselves. I don't think doing charity work is sincere when they are doing it for the sake of television is not right. I mean, all of them, do you think they do any charity work when they are off-camera or when they did not participate in any pageant. I guess not! They are doing it because it is part of the program, the itinerary of the pageant.

Headlines "Miss World visits orphanage" or "Miss World spending time with the old folks" or "Miss Universe care for the children with Aids". The next minute you see them saying "ohh, it's so sad, these kids have aids" or "ohh, these kids have no parents, poor little thing" then there's sobbing and crying and weeping. The next minute you see the flashing their smile on stage and strutting their stuffs and shaking their bon-bons on camera. FAKE!

What will they do when they win the title? They do charity work only for a year, because they are oblige to do it. It's in their contract to hold the title. They become spokesperson, they do 'Public Announcement' for certain organization and foundation. Well, they get their money and after a year they pass on the crown to the next reigning queen and their charity work disaapears and you never hear from them again! FAKE!

But recently there are too many cases that girls are attacking and sabotaging each other belongings off-stage cause of jealousy. I mean, all the girls are there for a good cause! To bring World Peace! Remember???!!!?? Girls can be cruel and vicious creature if they are blinded by rage, jealousy and vengeance. They will do anything and everything to bring their opponents or enemies down. I am a girl myself, i know our species well. :)

The recent Miss Universe Scandal, where Miss Puerto Rico was sabotaged by one of the Miss Universe contestant. Pepper spray was found on the swim wear, evening gown even in her makeup. See how vicious a girl can be, lucky it's only rashes and she felt some burning sensations. What if she is genetically allergic to it, it may kill her!

Miss Puerto Rico was even accused of making it all up, until the police report confirms that they found evidencing of pepper spray on her evening gown. Thank god that she won the Pageant! Serve the person that sabotaged her right!

Talking about Pageants, there's lots of parents in The States are quite obsessed with grooming their daughters to be Beauty Queens. They control their eating to they can stay in shape, hire a Fitness consultant to keep fit, a Speech Coach to help them tackle difficult questions when asked on Pageants. Some girls are doing it willingly, some are force by parents and hopefully their daughters can reach stardom and be famous, if not, probably they will meet somebody rich and make them their wife :) who knows right? Guys always fall for Beauty queens, even if they are airheads.

I stumble upon this clip from youtube featuring this contestant from Miss Teen USA named Tara Connor representing South Carolina. OK, i don't blame her for making fool of herself on stage, because she is blond. I know, it's not a nice thing to say. The question asked was not even difficult, it's quite a straight forward question. I mean, they do have Speech Coach guiding them all the way, right?

The question asked by a judge 'Recent polls have shown that a fifth of Americans can't locate the US on the world map. Why do you think this is?

Miss South Carolina answered:

"I personally believe the US Americans are unable to do so because uh, some people out there in our nations.....don't have maps and i believe our education like such as south africa and iraq everywhere like such as ....and i believe that they should our education over here! In the US should help the US., should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future...for our children". :)

Hmmm...she can't even make a full sentence. No one even understand a word that comes out of her mouth. Not only does she did not answer the question, she can't even make a profer sentence and her answer doesn't even make any sense. But, life always have second chances. The people from the Today Show gave her a second chance to tackle the question, i don't think it is a very good comeback answer. I really thought she could do better, come on you would already be expecting them to ask you the question again. OK, i must give her credit for having the courage to go on National TV and face criticism of the press again. If it was me, i'll hide my face under a brown bag wherever i go!

Can't answer questions, no biggie. Go on a talk show and redeem yourself, take a second try to answer the question. What if this happens?

You think that humiliating yourself on stage is the worst thing that could happen to you? Take a look at this clip. I wouldn't want this to happen to me, imagine you are walking down the runway and this happens!!!

A WALDROBE MULFUNCTION???!!!??
