Drama at work!!!

I tell you..it is definitely not a good ending to my year 2008. So much drama, so much conflict, so much backstabbing, seriously lor..It is never dull at work.

So many things happening that i really don't know how to start. It started last year when i heard this rumour about me at work. I actually don't really care what people say about me, but it went to the manager's ear and it's no longer OK for me to sit still. Well, although my Boss don't believe rumours like that and he assures me that it does not affect anything of his perception on me and told me to be cool about it and it's nothing. But it really does demoralized me. I mean who doesn't feel that way? My boss sits directly opposite me the moment he stands he can see me, i mean don't tell me i am that ignorant and stupid that i something and my boss is not aware?

Anyway, the rumor spreads that i sleep at work. I was really flabbergasted when i heard that. I mean..come on!!!! There are so many walking up and down, and my boss is sitting directly in front of me? Who the hell in this world would be so so stupid!!! Anyway, we work 12 hours straight at work, with no overtime!!! And now they are even cutting back on the food allowance. As you know, my work deals a lot with documentation, yes, it's very very boring for some people. It's like pages and pages of words..words and numbers and more words and numbers.. It strains your eyes a lot and facing the computer screen for hours will definitely take a toll on your eyes. I mean, don't i deserve at least 15 mins of break? Time to rest my eyes..like shut my eyes??? Well, i blink my eyes ever other second, accuse me of sleeping then?

I even go to work when i am sick, and i drive from Klang. You know how dangerous is that when you are on drugs medicine? If one whistle blower happen to walk by? Will they know that i am sick and still came to work? they wouldn't know right? Only my immediate boss can judge me on that. So now, i don't really care because when i am sick i just stay home as no one appreciates when you go to work when you are sick. They will just complain, so fuck that. I am staying home and rest. FYI, this happen early this year.

Recently, another issue came up. Sigh, i tell you, i am a person that can't fine my feelings for long and i don't know how to pretend. When i don't like you, it definitely shows. I did that once to her (my idiotic colleague that seems can't stop gossiping about other people) and eventually she starts talking to me again and i let bygones be bygones and forgave her. I truly did, i thought she has backed off...but no, she is back again.

I really am really stressed after i found out what she had said about me and my other colleague. I mean what has my doing affect her? Am i that influential? Am i that great that whatever i do affects her? Well, she complaint that me and my other colleagues always comes in late to work and makes her feel pressured. WHAT THE FUCK??? What has it got to do with her being pressured? She doesn't even do the products that i do? Even if i am on leave she doesn't follow up on my pending transaction!! What the hell does she even care if i am not around?

My boss did not even say anything because our company suppose to be flexible. We work more than 9 to 5, so most managers give and take. You are in no position to even make any remarks, you are not even my mentor or supervisor or my senior. You are in the same fucking position that i am and why care to what time i come in to work? Let the manager rate me, in the end, it affects my ratings, not yours!! SO WHY YOU FUCKING CARE??!!??!!

I don't understand why people can act cute and innocent in front of you and acts worst than a witch behind you. I seriously don't understand how she can act super-duper nice to me and back-stab me and cry about it. At that moment i wanted to go up to my boss and counter attack, but then i realised that why should i do that? If i do that then i would be the same as her, and i won't forgive myself for that action. So, i guess the best defense is sometimes not to defend at all. Why should i justify myself when i have not done anything wrong? It is because i am at fault then only i should justify my actions. So, that is why i am keeping quiet.

I am ignoring her for good, i come to work, completes it and go home. No more interaction with her anymore. I have been courteous and too nice. Now i just want to get my work done and go home. So, just stay with the people that brings you positive energy and stay away from the people that pulls you down and drain your spirit.

Lunch at iThai Cafe (Millennium Square)

Me and my colleagues have another big lunch gathering!! This time there are 7 of us, squeeze into Kenneth's Avanza. Since there weren't much to do at work and it is a public holiday today, there weren't much car on the road. so, we decided to drive over to PJ at Millennium Square for lunch.

Took us about 15 minutes to get there, it is a working day in Malaysia, i don't think we could reach there in 15 minutes. I've been there before with Canna and Hadrian one night after work. That time we were at Piccadilly. This time we had lunch at iThai Cafe, mix of Italian and Thai food.

The food pricing is quite reasonable, most importantly it taste great. Patrick asked us whether we want to sit inside the restaurant or we rather have the river view. Tetty quickly answered she wanted the river view. We were thinking, river in the middle of PJ? Then when we standing at the railing, aiya, it was just a big big longkang la, haha.

Saw the big longkang (drain) down there?

Kind of empty during Raya, Public Holiday plus all Balik Kampung.

Shita giving the peace sign and Tetty busy ordering

Kennth and Patrick waiting for the food to be served.

Finally, Kenneth's Basil and chicken soup is here. (RM7)
So big the claypot, so much can share 2 people le. But he finish alone, hehe.

Mushroom soup with toast (RM5.50)
Filled with button mushrooms, not too bad as i had tasted better mushroom soups.

The Pad Thai Noodles (RM6.50)

Looks nice inside. Very spicy and don't be fooled by it's size, it's actually a lot as it is very compacted underneath those eggs.

Pad Grapow Beef with Egg and rice (RM7.00)
Don't see it black black like this, very spicy oh...you can't differentiate the chopped long beans and chopped chilli padi. Damn pedas ok the chilli padi.

Footlong sausage only RM 7.00

Everyone ordered this, total of 5 orders. This was highly recommended by Patrick.
The funny thing is, the waitress that took our order, is talking like those video that is played slow-motion. She wanted to tell us that they are only left with 2 footlongs. It took her like a minute to get the message across.

'sorr...reeee....(a long pause) we...on..nee have 2 foot longs left... cannnn youuu orrr..derrrr.. someee... things... else...'

Then we we like listening till our head tilt to one side. Before she can even finish we had figured out what she was trying to tell us midway..Haha!

Beef Burger with Fries (RM6.50)

Very thick le, The buns are nice and crispy. Nice, they make good fries too!

Shita was like..Wah..so big ah the sausage!

Tetty just can't wait anymore , open mouth big big!!

Chomp!!!

Azian will hate us for this, because when we went to buffalo, she was fasting. Now, we went without her again because she is having her Raya Holiday. Haha!! Sorry Azian. We'll take you there next time OK?

League Champion

My team have won the Trade League Champion!!!! Yes we have won!! We have proved that we can achieve no errors for a whole straight 3 months!! For that we are rewarded RM 1000 for the first 2 months and the 3rd month a big RM 5000. Yeah!!!!

Haha, presenting us with our big big trophy and of course, how can it be official without a mock cheque.

Look at the smiles on everyone face le... Can see the 'KA-CHING' symbols in their eyes. Haha!

The guys just can't get enough of the trophy.

Haha! Azian too wants a piece of the trophy.

Then it is decided to be placed in the middle of the cubicle where everyone can see it. Then the next argument arise on where the trophy should face. Haha!

Then we call for a meeting, not work matter la. Just discussing how we should spend the money! haha! All have decided to elect me to organize a lunch buffet. All i can think of the nearest Hotel is the Golden Horses! Next update will be on the Golden Horses!

Lunch at Buffalo

Last week, me and both of my colleagues went to this Cafe' around Sri Petaling for lunch. It is called Fusion Cafe' where they serve a fusion of East meets West food. Quite pricey i must say, but nevertheless the food is good. Their mushroom soup serve like Dome style with the crust on top, only RM8.90 which is quite reasonable compared to RM21.00 at Dome. After a good meal, we decided where we want to have lunch on the next few days, we end up deciding to try some western food at Sunway, Dataran Mentari recommended by one of my colleague Patrick's wife. It is called Buffalo Steakhouse.

How nice if every lunch time we go try something new, hehe. I had enough of the cafeteria food, for more than 3 years of working with my company, a month of food at the cafeteria is really killing me. I'm through with it, i want to go out and try something new. Mostly we take turn to drive. So this time Kenneth drove, so 4 of us hop into his Avanza.

When we arrived, we even saw a few more other cafes that we would come and try some other time. Haha, have not try Buffalo but we are already planning where to have our lunch the next time, we are some greedy people.

Once we get into the steakhouse, we chose the cushion seats, more comfortable ma. We really had a hard time deciding what to eat.

Kenneth and Patrick deciding on what to order.

Why? Because there are so many varieties and most importantly, the price is not expensive at all. The lunch set is even more reasonable. For a soup of the day, a main course, a dessert and a drink cost only RM12.00. Where else can you find a set lunch this reasonable.

One of my colleague, did not want her photo to be taken (Han Hui), decided to go for the Baked Seafood.

Yumm!!! Covered with cheese. Underneath is like various seafood -shrimp and fish all minced and topped of with cheese to bake. Guess what, it cost less than RM10.00. So damn fucking cheap right?

Patrick's choice is the Sambal Steak, quite unlikely right? Western food with Asian sauce. I guess this is the first time I've seen this in a menu. Most of the restaurant goes for the conventional black pepper, mushroom or herbs sauce. Sambal is definitely the first time I've seen in a menu.

The portion is quite huge ok! Steak drench in sambal sauce, according to Patrick, It's very unlikely people will think of this combination. But the fusion goes very well, two thumbs up from Patrick for this unusual combination. Guess how much it cost. It's only RM 23.90 leh. Cheap leh? No joke leh!

Kenneth's choice is the Corden Blue Steak. Mostly i've seen on menu is the Corden Blue Chicken, seriously Corden Blue Steak is the first time lo. I'm not sure if there are other restaurant that serve this, but for me this is the first.

Drooling already right? You can't believe the price for this meal, It's only RM 19.90 leh. Aiyo!!! where can get this price outside lah.. Steak le, No RM 30.00 don't even think of having steak. The generous amount of cheese oozing out between the steak..my God!!! Cheap Cheap Cheap!

Ah...now finally my choice for the day is definitely one of my favourite. Grilled Lamb Chop!! Most of the time when i order and lamb dish in Klang. I'll get very disappointed. It's either too tough or rubbery, or the portion is so little and not worth it for the price that you pay. Mostly is very thin slices that you find most of it are the fats or the bones. But look at this!!!

Look at how thick the Lamb Chops are!!! 3 thick and juicy piece of meat ok! All meat ok, and it's not rubbery or tough. Can just eat like this, no need sauce, it taste good just by itself. Sweet and juicy meat!! Haha!! You can't believe the price, It's only RM 18.90 OK!! Oh, i have to say this again- So damn fucking cheap lo!!

Ok, close your jaw and wipe your mouth. I will definitely go there again lor. this time anyone wants to join me? Hehe!!!

Ok la, enough about food. Kenneth can't wait to dig in already, hehe!!

Team Building Batch 4 -The Sequel

Finally i get to squeeze some time to update on my so-called 'company trip' to Genting View Resort'!! Our team buildings are never ever relaxing, after working for more than 10 hours at work, they still put our brains plus body to work. I only get to sleep like 4 to 5 hours during my 2 and a half days there, i tell you..i even have to skip breakfast because i rather sleep than to wake up an hour earlier to have breakfast...seriously.

I manage to take a few pictures of the room, not too bad, better condition than the 1st 2 team building places that we have been. Our first team building was at Lembah Azwen Resort at Hulu Langat (worst place i have been to) The 2nd one was not bad, it was held at D'Ark, Janda Baik, Pahang. The place was quite cooling and we got to share a room with 4 other people (the toilet is really scary, i was so afraid to bath alone. Dare not even to go pee during midnight leh, i tahan until next morning when everyone is awake...i tell you!!!)

This time, the 3rd time was the best so far. But, there is always a catch. The first 2 times is mostly classrooms activities and only a few outdoor activities. We got to get enough sleep at a very bad condition and uncomfortable beds. This time!!! We have comfy beds and TV and everything to enjoy, but we can't find time to enjoy it because we are loaded with projects and presentations that we have to crack our heads the whole night before we can even get to sleep!! Damn Scope!! Damn my company!!! (I really hope none of my superior is reading this :P~)

Anyway, here are the pictures taken before being pulverized by me and my team members.

The beds for me and Kak Wes!

Clean toilet!

The Balcony

The Hall

Our neighbours

The scenery from outside the balcony is fantastic, anyhow, it is not as cold as i have expected it to be. It was raining most of the time but still no cool breeze, kinda disappointed with that, really don't even need a jacket or long sleeves.

We reached Genting View Resort at 4.30pm and was ushered stright into the Main hall and brief on our first activity which is the 'Run To Victory'. I didn't manage to participate in any of the outdoor activities as i had a sprained ankle. I am limping away most of the away, so you see, it was a good thing for me as i have time to take pictures...hehe!!

Sigh!! Sadly, my team ended up at the last placing. Hey, at least we try right? Then, our next assignment is to come up witha a team name and a battle cry!! I hate doing this because the 1st time you do this, it is interesting. The 2nd time, it's easy because we have done it before. But the 3rd time, we have already used all of our best idea and it gets bored and kinda lame now. Anyway, it is a task we have to fulfill. We finally come up with a lame team name 'Believe'. The battle cry? Super lame!!

Believe We Can Win
(Our palm touching our chest)
.
Believe(As in out team name la) is the best!
(pull our hand out and give a thumbs up)
.
Believe is 'Mo Tak theng' (It means that we are incomparable)
(make your palm into a fist and give it a little strong shake)

Percayalah!! (it means 'believe it' in our malay language)
(holding your fist and raise up to the air -Tunku Abdul Rahman like when he shouted MERDEKA!)

Hmppphhhh!!!!
(Bruce Lee like -with your right thumb pushing your nose to a side)

Yup!!! That was our battle cry..super lame right?

After presenting our new team's name and battle cry, we were out straight on a project to design a futuristic car, not only designing it as in drawing it out, but we were given an empty frame and asked to build an actual model of our sketches with the limited resources that was provided to use. We we given fine wires, a plier, colour papers, scissors, double sided tape, celotapes and magicpens. That was all that have been given to us to build a replica of our design.

cracking our head with an empty frame

It looks like a beetle

HHmmm.........(rubbing chin)

Note that it is already after 2 am in the morning!!!

We have given up a little.

Our leader can't help but went to sleep..

Our design turns out...well.... it actually sucks..
Tadah!!!

Because of this project i slept at 4am and miss my breakfast. We failed in our presentation because we were not prepared and not confident with our designs (the other team did really good with the design) Well, we did actually underestimated them, we thought they would face the same problem that we were facing. Turns out the other teams have designers and engineers major. (Seriously, not trying to find excuses)

The next day, we have to do the flying fox and absailing activity. Which i was glad i injured my leg, if i don't, i will surely freak out. It is so scary, and high up there, and people screaming and and and...it's very high!!! Anyway, when that was finally over, we were thrown with another project, no time to sleep the night again...i will talk about the project the next time. Our project is well liked by our Wholesale Banking Head that he had approved and qualify our project to be on trial. IF, the project is a success and implemented in our company, we were promised RM50,000 $$$$$$

We were so excited, because not all team were qualified. We were so lucky that the idea pop up during our short lunch break with three quarter of the team were half asleep. Wish me luck!!!

After the big presentation, and our team celebrated with joy. Exchange contact numbers and emails, we need to meet up again at work to do our project leh...RM50,000$$$$ here we come!!!

Official Team Photo have to be taken!!

I'm back finally!!!

I just came back from yet another series of my company Team Building session at Genting View Resort, Genting. It was really tiring and had very little sleep. All because it was part of the program, which is 'Breaking The Barrier', this program really pushes us to the limit!

Multiple projects, presentation, performance, you name it, all cramp into a 2 and a half day duration. All in all it was a great experience, will share more details later. Now, i am off to bed. It's another long day at work tomorrow!!!!

An Office Affair Will Get You Places!

I'm kinda lazy to blog this whole month, not sure why. Just not in the mood to express everything that is going on around me. I was feeling really down lately, especially after my appraisal this quarter. I know i will definitely will not achieve a good rating even at the end of this year if i don't transfer to another team. I hate my Team at Scope International!

Last year my rating was really bad. And it really reflects on my bonus which i am furious inside. I was the committee member of my current department, Treasurer to be exact. But my close friends and family knows that i spend most of my weekends at home doing all the crap for my company decoration competition for any occasion as i remember. I was also the committee member for my team (EDC HK). We organize the trip to Genting and some other gatherings (mostly makan-makan)

I'm not trying to brag on what i did for the company, i like what i do. But i am frustrated that my effort and participation are not reflected on ratings last year and that my contributions are not appreciated. I remember 2 years before when i just join the company, i was told to me more active in events and to take part, to organize evens in order to have god ratings. So, i did. I did whatever my 2 hands can do and i get nothing but shit for my appraisal.

We are measured in 5 aspects. Trustworthy, International, Creative, Courageous and Responsive. We try to live up to the 5 ridiculous measures that are installed for us for each different rankings in the company. To my experience, even if you fulfill most of the 5 'elements' said above. They will never take it into account. My work and contribution for the company and the team, was not taken into account. I was really frustrated, i was told to do perform something but was measured otherwise. In spite of getting good ratings as i was clearly suppose to, i got a rating that is far more worst then i initially join from my previous team and done nothing to contribute to any event.

This proves that if i sit my big fat ass down on my chair confine to my cubicle, just merely coming to work and finish my work and get my big fat ass home. I might get a good rating :) So, this year, i have made up my mind to not to participate in any events or outings. I feel it is a waste of my precious time especially during the weekends. I rather spend it at home watching TV or blogging, hang out with my friends and spend time with my family than attending to any stupid company function that i was told that will boost up my ratings.

In my humble opinion, the so-called objectives they try to measure us with, really contradicts everything that they force us to live up to. All you get is, 'aiya...this one cannot consider as an objective la' this one la..not job related la, cannot consider' 'this one did not improve in our productivity in any aspect la'. So, in the end of the day. Mostly what we have written in our appraisal is null and void. I was like, what the fuck!!!??!! Why the hell host so many events and tell us it is compulsory to attend? Why make us write our own appraisal when most of it 'will not be considered'? You know what i do now? Hand in empty appraisals. I don't feel the need to justify anything that i do now, because it will not be taken into account.

There is so many favouritism going on in my team, which at this point is really frustrating. One this that really annoys me is that my boss ask me to improve on my MC rate. I was really flabbergasted when he made this remark. He compared me to another colleague that used to have the highest rate of MC in our team. So far at this quarter i have taken the most MC. I mean come on!!! He could have at least told me to take a good care of my health! The seniors have taken a lot more MC but have not been approached. Why?? Because he was too afraid to confront them, so he will pick on the newbies. Because with us, he can control and vent out his dissatisfaction that he could not do with the seniors.

How in the hell i can do to 'improve' my MC rate? I definitely can refuse to take MC, but why the hell i should jepordise my health for the company that clearly does not care about their employee's welfare? I have to drive all the way from Klang to work at KL, what if something happen to me on my way to work? Well, i don't think anyone will feel bad if anything happen to me. All they can do is replace me. Yes, i won't be that naive to risk my life for i am only just a number or a name in that company. Anyone is replacable. They won't be like 'ohh..poor Melissa is sick, she should rest at home and recuperate sooner'.

All i am saying, it is really unfair to rate a person based on how many sick leave they take. Furthermore, he clearly knows that i am really sick. one, because when i was about to get sick, before all the bacteria kicked in. I still go to work, i was sneezing and coughing and had mild fever. I still go to work, but i was disoriented and my concentration level had decrease termendously. That is why i made a lot of mistake for that period of time, which is why it is better for me to stay home and recover. I owuldn't want to make a big blunder while i was sick at work, because in the end, it will reflect to me.

I don't think they will be kind enough to consider that i was sick and still come to work. They won't see that you are dedicated. All they see is the mistake you make. If you are sick and don't come to work, they say you are lazy and not commited to your job. When you come to work, and accidently made a mistake while you are sick, they say you are not responsible and careless. So, what the fucking hell they want you to do!!

I am not saying that i can be easily walked over by my boss. I don't want to make a big issue out of it because in any way it will not help me in any situation. I can't be compared to the seniors of 8 years experience and me with only 2 years experience. When my boss a terrible rating, obviously from his own team. He was frustrated at us, saying that he has backed us up in so many ways that this is what he gets. I mean 'Hello'??? What back up? By giving us terrible ratings?? That's a good one!! STOP blaming us and really look into what you have done for us lately!! STOP pointing fingers and really sit down and ponder!

My conclusion, in order to have good ratings. To act cute and innocent with your immediate boss, make sure you give him a good head (be sure to be really good at it), what else? Go to bed with him! I'm sure you will get exceptionally good ratings. Even if you have made a mistake it will be covered, he will rather take the blame for you. Even if you are clearly wrong, he will make every excuse to prove that you are right in a very wrong way. Even if you want to go back in the middle of the day because you are stress, you can do so with no objection. Even if you want to take MC, it will not be recorded. furthermore, you can take MC and later admits that you actually go to the movies will not get into trouble!

Dong Dong Chiang!

Wow, time flies so quickly that we are now celebrating another new year. Can't wait for another long holiday. I will only be starting back to work on Thursday!! Yay!!! A long holiday at last. My dad last minute plans for a good 4 days 3 nights vacation to HatYai! A roadtrip down to Thailand, The Land Of Smiles!

Will tell you guys about it when i come back on the 12th. For now, will show you guys a little bit about the events at my work place. Everyone knows about my passion for artwork, if you have beenreading my blog, you will definitely know that my company always held this Decoration competition. Sigh! couldn't help myself but to get invlove again. I am telling myself that this is going to be my last time getting invlove in these knid of activities, it doesn't help with my overall ratings anyway. So, i better just sit down in front of my computer and just WORK.

My Team

The judgement day was on the 4th of January, 3 days before the big day! Hopefully we win again, as we have bribe the judges with cheese and cream crackers. Why not Mandarin Oranges and Cookies?

It's the Year of the Rat ma, so our theme of deco is all about rat. My colleagues are all dressed as rats. Definitely we have to eat rat food lo, CHEESE!! Improvise ma, Mandarin oranges is old school liao la.

Then we have our own Lion Dance and 'Ta Tou Fu', I guess with these two things we have already stolen the show and gain the judges attention. Our main purpose la, because just by deco, we won't be able to win, performance, a little extra will give us some bonus points, hehe!

Anyway, that is how we celebrate Chinese New Year at work.

Cute or not?? (Say cute, if not i'll bite you)
